Agreed, no company should plan on immediate profitability. Doesn’t change the fact than many do, or don’t have reasonable expectations of when they will have positive cash flow. Hence why I asked. If the company has $$$ in the bank, take a shot and rest easy that you have a salary safety net to catch you if things don’t go to plan. If they only have two nickels to rub together, that promise of salary isn’t worth much unless they’re already pumping out cash
they are stoners trying to grow too fast. thats stupid.
promise of salary is ok, I get paid or I send 5000 ppm of salt to the grow. But the equity thing is sketchy and may need lawyers I cant afford if im not paid. If I got fucked on equity there’s so many devious ways to get revenge and they would regret it but it would also waste months of my life.
If i had an opportunuity to grow legally- id start at 100 plants unless I had a plan and sales outlet for hash oil and then id grow more I make good gummies- I tried buying my first burner phone today- im quitting growning and become a drug dealer instead. wal mart cant activate phones???
That only works if they can pay you
I was saying id destroy th crop if i was not paid even one monthly check. I do have roundup concentrate too. I can buy pest resistant bugs or terrmites too.= im obv crazy If its indoors at 5 k a month running 100 1k lights- NO if its outdoors and you get paid from now till october 5 k a month plus equity is ok
as far as operational sop= im pretty sure companies offer that such as gavita or nutrient companies. Theyll give pro advice for free
And then you’d have even less chance of getting paid. This is an idiotic notion. Have you ever heard the phrase “you can’t squeeze water out of a rock”. You’d be no more paid after that and you’d be facing some serious charges to boot. This is the kind of thing that would make any company never consider letting you near their grow
Its an art form to set up a burner correctly.
It’s part of the process ![]()
The company that doesnt pay me= ive never ever been not paid for my work so id be upset. Not paying employees is not a thing. if I bust ass and you dont pay- burning it down take that however but im nobodies bitch,
And let’s say you’re the HoC in this theoretical debate: if you fuck a crop and the company can’t afford to pay any of their employees, should they burn you down? This is asinine. It’s one thing if they’re screwing you intentionally. It’s another if they LITERALLY DONT HAVE THE MONEY
thats realistic, crop disease does happen and bugs too
This seems pretty straightforward, they wanna pay you 5k a month and then deduct this number from ANY profits they might make. I’d say kindly decline this offer and ask that the 5k a month be seen as base salary and not weighted against that 25% number, and I’d ask for a different revenue share, as many said 25% profit splits can come with several hurdles but changing that number to something like 5-10% of any pound sold and 5-10% equity will guarantee you money in your pocket for goods sold and put less strain on the business when it comes to cash flow and you worrying about being fucked, which is already a red flag from both sides of this issue, if your only in it for some quick cash this is going to end poorly for you, but if your actually there to build something and put in the effort (which I don’t think you are, you seem overly concerned with other aspects besides growing a company) then you might have a career opportunity,
I’m definitely not it in for the quick cash, this is my passion. I have a buddy who was hired as HOC and after a year they canned him and paid the person he trained half his salary to do his job.I’m just trying to avoid something like this.
The money will come regardless, I’m not stressing about that. I am gonna meet with him and go over the business plan, bonus structure, and what he expects yield wise.
I will update later on tonight with both my offers. Thanks for all the replies so far guys and gals
Everyone has a buddy or 5 like this. You are wise to tread carefully.
I would get your own attorney to draft a contract when you decide on terms. Make sure he will defend it in court. Have them reimburse you for legal fees.
Clone the “recipe” using salts. Justify a salary based on what you can document you reduce the opex. Prepackage salts with directions on how to mix, do not share what’s in them with anyone else. Don’t make yourself expendable.
Arizona Offer
- 60k base salary
- 5-10% bonus of every lb sold after harvest (exact percentage still to be decided)
- 1% equity and 1% profit sharing after 1 year
- (1) 100 light flower room
- (1) Veg room
- (1) Mother room
- (5) greenhouses
- buying more licenses to expand
- with a veg/flower team under me
Oklahoma Offer
- 60k base salary
- 25% from clone sales (clones are about 3-5$ in bulk from what they told me, so about an extra $1000 extra for every 1000 clones sold) however often that is
- 25% bonus every harvest from the total profit after expenses, which then they would subtract the 3-4 months base salary from the 25% (just 25% flat out). So in order to make any bonus, from my calculations, I would need to hit 1.5# a light at $1800 or 2# a light at $1500
- (1) 2 tier veg/mother room
- (1) clone room
- (3) 50 light flower room (BUT they only want to start with one flower room)
- Expanding slow and steady
- Startup with friend and his lady, who are smokers but have never cultivated
Dollar amounts seem high to achieve the bonus when you think about the current market and ongoing consolidation… What is your calculated out the door, trimmed cost to produce including real estate and management? (shifting no fees to other categories).
The more you say about this place, the less I think it will be successful long term. Is there an actual business plan that you’ve seen?
$1500/lb in Oklahoma sounds far fetched for most
