You pretty much have it nailed, i’d burp the jars during the process just to release pressure slightly though. Usually 2-3 times a day is what I’m looking at, more at the beginning.

you should at least “worry” enough to do the maths….
Ballpark (assumes rosin takes zero space in the jar):
30g @ 75% THCa (MW 358.5g/mol) would be expected to produce how much CO2?
(0.75 * 30)/ 358.5 =0.0628 mols of CO2.
At STP that’s 0.0628mol * 22.4L/mol =1.4L
Which sure as fuck won’t fit in a 0.188L jar without raising the pressure…
One might even be expect 1.4/0.118 =11.864 bar (~ 170psi) if you managed to keep it all in there
Good thing canning jars are designed to hold vacuum and tend to leak under pressure…usually between 1-3bar. Fortunately the lids also tend to buckle before the jar explodes (most of the time).
Personally I would not tighten that ring down…

Sounds like it’d be safer in a litre jar, pressure wise. I’m guessing losses and oxidation just make that a non-starter?
Surely everyone who is decarbing in mason jars are having their terps being forced out under pressure?
If you could evacuate that 1l jar first, then it’s a better fit…except for all that extra surface area to loose your hash to.
Meh, loosing some is better that loosing most and/or oxidizing stuff.
You just need to be aware of the chemistry and physics behind what you’re doing so you understand the magnitude of the risk.
I think I’ve only seen two reports of canning jars exploding around here. Both had butane in them iirc. It happens, but it’s relatively rare.
I’ve seen lots of buckled lids…
But shit happens:
Just last week we had a Pyrex pan spontaneously disassemble itself under vacuum…

Would something like this help? I remember reading in a different thread about it for possibly something else but have been thinking about it since. I haven’t had a jar break yet myself.

Although the fact that I can pull vacuum on the inside of a jar with the band on relatively tight suggests they leak below 15psi anyway…
Those lids don’t look like they are designed to buckle, which might be problematic if you manage to hash the PRV shut.
I’ve certainly had 75 & 100PSI PRV ingest hash then fail to open at designated pressure…

If working with a small amount , once product is rosin, you can jar in oven for a few hours , and whip out the co2. PM if interested i will give you the run down ;D

Absolutely , I used to use stir bar religiously until i learned it was the best way to stir 02 into your material. Drill + preferred mixing tool as tip
