Holy shit

did you get around to showing this at LOCO? Are you still using it?

I have it here in town I don’t think they have space to hold it but we could do a showing there. Let me speak with them on this maybe it can be a fun little event.

Would a freeze dryer stabilize purged bho that didnt crumble or shatter. U know the sticky mess i refer too lol

There are better ways to go about removing terpenes from your slab using butane and cold crashing. You can also force sugars to nucleate by going hot and then centrifuge them dry.

However, if you insist on using a freeze dry the one I have is pretty sweet as it can be used as a normal vac oven, freeze dryer or terpene distillation device. Starting from bho or biomass is possible. Sweep with nitrogen , pentane vapors, or hot water steam.

I was just curious as i sometimes get something that wont crumble or shatter.
So a freeze dryer would dry it?
Was just looking for a simple way to deal with.
Most of time i make that stuff into distillate or gummies.
Not so much worried about terp removal. Just stabilizing a sticky batch

What do u think is making it sticky?

Im guessing age of material is why it is infrequent.
I cold inject and dehumidify material before loaded. So my best guess is age or possible moisture?

Looks like a good opportunity to book a trip to San diego and ask waxplug at his event coming up

Here’s a basic tech series on freeze drying. If you’re interested in the science behind the tech, check it out.

Very interesting.
Iv just seen somethings okay to freeze dry others are not?
Just beginning to learn the tek capability.
My thought was how sappy oil would do afyer a good freeze dry
I know fats and oils rnt suggested to freeze dry. Referring cooking oil etc.

can you still make that large freeze drier you posted in 2020? what is the cost with heaters and chillers?

Hey brotha,

Me and My guy Cheebs have talked about Polar Terpene Isolation and reuniting them with the tincture. Once you separate your terps off with a separator column. Take your hydrosol and prepare an LLE. I steam distill the terp water left over form the freeze dryer so it’s cleaner. You could run it through a Buchner. The more you filter it the more gets lost. Use distilled water as one of your layers the other a non polar solvent like Hexane. 2 ways of thinking here. Completely saturate the water with Sodium Chloride. This in theory will force the polar terps into a non polar solvent layer. Use a separator column and separate your new layer with polar terps. Add this to your tincture and go straight to the roto. Maybe getting this really cold will help. I’m not guaranteeing this 100% works but in theory it should work. I will be trying it soon. The idea of loosing all those terps has racked my brain!!! After you will have a small amount of water that has made it into your solvent/tincture. Add some Sodium Sulphate and when the water bonds to the salt pour it off. Always keep the solvents dry. I hope someone can build on this!!! This would also change the Vape game as well if you can manage to get the polar flavonoids into your oil. Would taste like a dream!!!
