I hate giving harvest right cannabis money. They hate, actively hate, or industry and what we do. I’d buy a Chinese model from a decent store like USA LAB or something before ever giving the Mormons our industry money. Heck, I might buy one from Cascade, I mean Agrify, before harvest right. That’s saying something!!

Lmfao Chad’s at Agrify :joy: Their growing pods are bullshut. Over 15k for a 4x8 pod :joy:

Too bad nobody is making better.
They are bastards for cornering a market for sure.

We should get a hashfight going around this. What really is the performance?

It’s not that hard to build a freeze drier

Across should take on this challenge and fill the gap in the market.

idk why somone hasnt made a new brand

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and every component seems pretty straightforward except for the compressor/peltier system they have going on. The shelves would be very straightforward to do with a PID, a vac chamber is definitely not hard to come by.

In the HR, there are rings around the chamber that produce cold spots for sublimated ice to nucleate on. Once that component is figured out I think it’s over for them.

This might be a good place to start? The trick is figuring out how they get complete coverage of the cylinder with those cooling rings.

What do you mean complete coverage? They insulate around the heat exchanging coil thats wrapped around the chamber…
Pretty sure they’re using a small refrigeration system to cool it. Doesnt take alot of BTU’s to cool an insulated chamber at vacuum, to 0c.
Simple ice cream machine/mini ice maker compressor/coil will essily chill the chamber.

Ive seen a few sites where they have their HR’s stripped of the casing, they do just use a small compressor system.

That makes sense, but are you aware of any mass manufactured small compressor units that can bring temps down to -50f? I think you may need to utilize a ULT compressor to achieve the necessary freezing temps for good FD.

I was initially thinking that it was peltier devices with cooling fins surrounding the chamber. I don’t think this would be as efficient as something easier like a two stage compressor

Im really tempted to open mine up now but I’ve only had it for a week… This would be super easy if someone could just pull a panel and check a compressor manufacturer/UPC
