ok ill give that a shot
that particular stuff we were going to use in a pre roll so i was trying to rehydrate it but i couldnt get enough moisture back in it… do you have any techs for rehydrating freeze dried buds back to a nice smokeable moisture content?

re hydration packs or beads… were still trying to really dial this part in at scale. does a few pounds is easy, doing a few hundred becomes a bit trickier

what kind of re hydration packs? i tried boveda and boost packs and they couldnt do it, was about 5 lbs, tried it pre and post grinding
hydration beads… hydration packs will only maintain hydration once already hydrated.
think about a boveda pack… how much water is in them?
You cant put more moisture in your buds than the packs contain, and the packs will equalize the moisture with the buds… not give all the moisture to the buds.

I’ve been consistently smoking on freeze dried weed for the last 2-3 weeks and it’s been great. Works awesome. Work on the parameters. The bag I’ve got sitting in front of me has been here for days and I’ve noticed no difference in hydration or consistency other than the strofoam-y consistency

Mine melts like you’ve got hash stuck in it usually toward the end of a nice fat backwoods or a cannon-ass joint. Once you remind yourself not to squeeze too tight while rolling you’re good, that’s about my only complaint about it. I don’t usually dry out my nug so i’m not sure of the air dry/FD comparison weight wise but the quality has been great as long as you trim the nug off of the branch completely

I mean what do you wanna know? its essentially the same concept as any freeze dryer except huge. We do implement infared heating but besides that its about the same as any other freeze dryer in concept.

My hope when we got that behemoth online was that the market for freeze dried smokable flower just wouldn’t be there…so all the flower came my way, rather than just the R&D misses.

I mean that’s all shit from my own grow so it’s not like the market is there really. I just dialed in the parameters all nice-like so I had some weed to smoke alongside my rosin
Personally, I really like it because once you get the kinks figured out you can get so much more flavor. I mean fuck i’m smoking on a backwoods right now and you can taste the weed super easily

I am super curious about your parameters. All the freeze dried bud I ever tasted had strong grassy overtones, very spongy, and never quite got “dry” enough.

Run as cold and as long as possible for your final dry - that was my big complaint too. Terps sprinkled on grass tastes like shit no matter what ungodly shit you roll it inside of haha
