Flavonoids

If anyone is curious about flavonoids I have tons of information, I’d love to collaborate with people on this.

Citrus is an incredible species rich in flavonoids which would be a great starting place for extraction and further isolation then to research. The best part is the flavonoids are often contained in the peel so it’s usually a byproduct of the juice industry.

I know someone who steam distills citrus peels and separates the oil out to use in his personal disty vapes. I’ve heard it’s some super flavorful stuff. I’d love to hear what ya got!

There are cannabis specific flavonoids that are super expensive iirc. I was doing a bunch of research on them years ago.

If I remember right there were $80 plus a gram or something, maybe even more. They’re the reason just botanical terpenes don’t make weed taste like weed.

The price won’t drop on these they’ll only increase. Demand is nothing and there’s a supply and they’re that much. A gram of nug has .01 grams or less of these flavonoids. They are never going to be cheap.

What is the difference between a terpene and a flavonoid? And how is the process different when extracting?

Terpenes are essential oils while flavonoids are pigments. Terpens have 5 carbons and 8 hydrogens while flavonoids are based on benzene rings.
