Running a 2l SDP setup with coldtrap.
My pump is Busch RA0040E. It gets down to about 1.2mbar.
Using a Inficon pg550 vacuum gauge to read the vacuum level.
The tubing from the cow to coldtrap is silicone and as short as possible. They use Gl-14 fittings and I know I have to upgrade to full bore when possible. All joints are greased with Dupoint grease. Currently using ice water in the chiller and coldtrap. Trying to get some dry ice for the next run.
Got 100ml of isomerizated cbd in the flask made by following IllNye’s SOP.
Got the mantle at 199C and vacuum at 1.3mbar. All the vapor seems to get sucked away by the vacuum and nothing condenses. Any ideas what’s happening?

I was trying to look up the vacuum pump you were using and as best as I could see it’s a single vane vacuum pump. You will need a dual vane. To get a good Reading you want need to connect your vacuum sensor via “hard” connection. When running good vacuum and using a good destilation Head You will start seeing that same smoke go to your system at about 30°C lower temperature (and even lower) shortly thereafter followed by the head fraction and then your main body.
