Hello. I came up with an idea to filter the hexane solvent through a carbon filter. Will it improve the taste of my oil after isomerization?
Not recomended to isomerize oil
Only issolate should be isomerized
Ac scribing of oil prior isomerization will not do much
With Wich reagent are you planning on isomerizing ?
Hexane reacts with several reagents so
Be carefull
Before the reaction itself, I would like to simply pass the hexane through a filter to get rid of the smell. Do you think this may have any negative effects on the reaction?
The smell is the hexane itself, you will not get rid of it. The poor taste of your oil is because i assume from your posts that you have not distilled it or distilled it poorly which is why youre selling something that tastes foul or chemical.
Posted in “crowd funding” ?!?
As in “I’d like to buy a clue…but can’t afford one…”
If your goal is truely to “remove the hexane smell from hexane with a carbon filter” then the best advice really is “please don’t make/sell this stuff, you’re not qualified to get it right”.
Ac scribing will most likely not take the smell out
And it probably if all ac is filtered out not hurt your reaction
BUT CRUDE OIL SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR A REACTION PERIOD
Are you doing the isomerization?
How?
From what starting materials?
Then what?!?
If you’re not stating with isolate, and not distilling post neutralization, then you’re doing it wrong.
