Feed Tank Question - Wiped Film Distillation

A little background - I’m an equipment provider and working in Europe with CBD customers. I’m setting up a lab with an Asahi DN100 wiped film and the project requires CE equipment. The problem I’ve run into is the crude having higher viscosity as it sits in the feed vessel.

The CE stamped system does not currently have a jacketed feed vessel but plan on offering a jacketed version in the future after it has undergone the CE certifying process. The facility we are working in will most likely not allow heat lamps/guns to be used on the system so that is a last resort solution.

This is the system I have to work with so I am not switching brands but instead looking for solutions to manage changing viscosity of crude while sitting in feed tank. Should we just process smaller batches instead of filling the tank and deal with breaking vacuum more frequently?

I appreciate and welcome all constructive insight. Thanks!

Can you throw a CE rated silicone heating pad on there while you get the jacketed glass feed tank built?

Chances of him killing himself someway very high…

Oh that’s a thought! I’ll run it by my team. Thank you.

Oh lord! Lol.

My thoughts exactly. A heat wrap with certification.

Usually feed tanks are jacketed and warmed with a re-circulating heater.

Get a water canner and heat up a few kgs at a time to then pour in a little at a time to keep viscosity where you want it.

We’re in the process of getting the jacketed feed tank CE but on the existing model it’s not. I have to come up with ideas to keep crude viscous with the existing feed tank. I’ll be glad to swap to jacketed but right now I’m working with what I’ve got.

If you need it certified, your only options are something off the shelf, or a c1d2/1 heat tape kit that goes to a remote PID controller.

Those off the shelf silicone ones are nice, and you can use a simple pot controller from BriskHeat if you dont need c1d2/1 enclosures/components.

I’ve used these in the past and they’re CE certified.

Great option! Thank you!

All Briskheat silicone heating tapes are CE approved products and are of very high quality, this one comes with a integral heat controller

Oh that is a nice one. Thank you!

need do jackted feeding tank for wiped film evaporator filling function.

We have the setup stock now.
