Fake Dank vapes warning

  1. Yup. But they are now breaking it into three buckets: lipoid pneumonia, cryptogenic organizing pneumonia, and alveolar hemorrhage syndrome. So lipoid pneumonia is still part of the equation. It was found in many of the patients.

  2. Yes, that seems to logical. I’m not sure what wouldn’t do that. The list of what could be causing this is very long. That’s the problem, labs needs to know what to look for in the samples, otherwise they need to do a ton of testing to figure out what’s in there (besides the common stuff like THC and terps).

  3. Alpha-tocopherol acetate as far as I know. TrueTerpenes claims to have had it GC’d and they say it’s pure alpha-toco acetate. And in my analycial testing (not GC) I agree it seems to be pure alpha-toco acetate. Other companies selling it claim it’s pure alpha-toco acetate. I feel confident claiming it’s pure alpha-toco acetate.

  4. I posted at least 4-5 studies looking at aerosolized/inhaled vit E (as alpha-tocopherol acetate). All found positive effects on the lungs. But you’re correct, none of the studies considered ACD. Maybe because they were done on animals. I suspect if it’s an allergic reaction we woulnd’t be seeing the symptoms we’re seeing.

  5. That’s possible, but I don’t it’s a major factor. Some terps are bronchodilators. Without bronchodilation I still think we would be seeing these symptoms.

  6. I agree. I think veg oil is likely a major suspect. I’m not sure veg oil has been used this year. I know TrueTerpenes was accused of using it, or some variation of it, for their Viscosity, but I haven’t seen any proof. Do you know for sure veg oil has been used for the past year?

  7. I agree. And gamma-tocopherol is found in mixed vit E oils, like soy and corn. I’m not sure if it’s easy to find bulk gamma-tocopherol in the US, but on Alibaba it’s all over the place.

Any one heard of Lucky carts? They are sold here in SF on the BM but I can’t find the knockoff on DH gate or Alibaba.

If that’s the same cause as the current outbreak that means she was close to the first case. However, I have yet to read of a suspected case in FL:

AND

Transcript of August 23, 2019, Telebriefing on Severe Pulmonary Disease Associated with Use of E-cigarettes

As of 5:00 p.m. yesterday, August 22nd, there were 193 potential cases, but again not all are confirmed of severe lung illness associated with e-cigarette product use reported by 22 states (CA, CT, IL, IN, IA, MN, MI, NC, NJ, NM, NY, PA, TX, UT, WI and additional states pending verification). These were reported between June 28th and August 20th of this year.

So as of Aug 29th that women your mom knows was not included in the suspected cases. Which is odd considering she has been ill for 2 months. That makes me think her case is separate from the current outbreak. If FL isn’t included I would suspect she’s experiencing different problems.

I’m imagining the logo is a Chinese lucky Cat :cat:

Yes, that the one.

Well, I obviously am not aware of the specifics. She was convinced that it has already been decided that the vape was the cause of her hospitalization. Perhaps it wasn’t one of the common denominators of ailment that has been reported so far. She’s friends with the woman, and has spoken to her about it since being admitted.

I really don’t know anything beyond that.

It’s nearly impossible to find a legit cart in philly unless you pay 400 for med card and 70 for a .5 cart at dispensary. I make my own and I can’t keep up with demand to save my life. Never even thought about using anything but terps&dist.

If you didn’t make your own, what other qualities are available?

Dank,bk,hh,rove, cereal, tko, smart. Any big name that packaging is available to buy on dhgate is what’s in philly.

Anyone used/seen this company. Is their product worthwhile in legal markets. They produced the research that said 80% of everything is counterfeit, both legal and bm. Are they just trying to drive their own sales? Some type of system seems like a good idea. Thoughts?

Imo, if a company puts a “safe for use” label on an item, said company or 3rd party must test amd review it.

Like the UL stickers on electronics.

@Demontrich that is true to an extent but maybe it’s safe for digestion.
Like. UL for electronics means it’s safe to plug in at your home with a stable 50-60hz 110-120v … plug it into a generator and it may not be safe.

I guess I was just thinking about authenticity. Like knowing it definitely came from a certain company, as opposed to knock-offs of a popular brand. I totally agree with the safe for use statement.

I would like to think that a cart sold in a rec store would be tested and have only distillate and terpenes.

Hardware?

This is getting crazy at this point… I have a friend in NYC area that runs a successful CBD company and today they were served a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT … claiming 3 products they make have Unsafe ingredients. What is ironic is there claiming there CBD is unsafe. Which there cbd they use is a 99% isolate that is USDA certified and comes from leading source. Pretty crazy …

Yep bc standard cat testing doesn’t cover everything. I will imagine more will follow.

Who filed suit against them?

Its New York State, Class Action.

Seems the vitamin E acetate is the cause.
