Extract not crumbling up

Hello All,

I have been lurking here for a while and have done a lot of reading and been able to piece a lot together from that but still have questions.

I recently ran a pretty large run a little larger then I normally do. I have a CLS and am using a counter flow heat ex-changer to chill the butane with liquid nitrogen. I have a flow control valve and then use a thermocouple to measure the temperature of the butane then control the flow to reach my desired temp (side not I eventually will create a controller and use a PID for this)
I blast with about -20 to -30 F butane.

After i was thru running all my material I poured it into some 9" x 10" glass pans. I put them on a hot pad and whipped and whipped the material and the residual butane was off gassing. when the trays started to get a lot more like batter I pulled them off the heat. They were still on the darker side and pretty moist.

The trays have been sitting now for a week or so and gotten a little better but still are dark and batter like. I am shooting for a dry crumble. I did a few side experiments with small samples of the batch to figure out what is going on.

I dissolved some into warm hexane then performed a saline wash, that did not appear to lighten up the color at all, neither did a AC scrub (ran it cold, is hot better?)

I took some and put it in a smaller dish and heated it more while whipping, the color did get lighter but when it cools off it still has a batter like consistency maybe a little less solid then the control sample.
I also tried putting this sample under vacuum, it defiantly is off gassing something.

My guess is the material was pretty high in terp’s and they are keeping some of the THC dissolved.
I do see some small sugar sized crystals in the mix. Based on the smell being heavy with lemon I suspect that there is a fair amount of Lemoene in the extract. See that Lemoene has a boiling point of some where near 340 F it seems near impossible to purge out a good portion of it to improve the stability.

So my questions is does any one have any tips or tricks to improve the material?
My main worry is using to much heat and decarbing the material, I don’t have a Short path kit yet and don’t need any more extract in my to be distilled inventory lol

By no means am I an expert here, but, if I recall correctly, your best bet is to put it under full vac for a few hours. Agitate, repeat.

Yeah a vac, stir, repeat usually dries it up

Would you suggest heat in addition to the vacuum? If so what temp, from reading on here i have seen temps all across the board some as high as 150 for crumble which seems high to me and having a risk of de carbing a good chunk of the material .

I never went over 90f-100f but I’ve did w no heat plenty of times too

Well after about a week of vacuum and whipping it is a little dryer but still not crumbling up, the color gets lighter when i whip it but after sitting in vacuum and around 75 deg F the color is still dark when i pull it out to whip it again, any suggestions?

The colder it is ran the hotter it needs to be to get crumble, ive made it both ways vac overnight then whip shatter or right outta the pot on seedmats

I tried running some of the batch as high as 140 deg F for a while in the vacuum oven, the stuff I did that to stays more runny when cooled down compared to the stuff I had not let see that high of temps, so i have avoid higher temps so as not to decarb it all, i have had success in the past with seed mats and made some nice golden dry crumble.

How hot do you normally go?

I usually so between 85-95. When it was straight outta the pot and about 115 or so if i was starting from shatter
