Hello,
My name is [retracted]. I am a special education teacher in [retracted]. My students and I run a work-based entrepreneurship class whereby we dismantle and reclaim precious metals from various obsolete electronics for scrap. We are completely self-sufficient and guided by the student’s needs. We focus on safety, job skills, money management, marketing, sales, and teambuilding. Students also learn that they too are a valuable part of the work force and can contribute just like those without disabilities. Money generated partially goes to an indoor garden we started from mere seeds. It has really taken off resulting in our first plant sale! Monies are also invested back into our business to increase productivity and fuel expansion for other students with disabilities.
In an effort to expand our student’s future employability skills we are beginning to explore thermoplastics (vacuum forming), to coincide with our 3D printing program.
I am writing to your company to see if you have an obsolete/gently used/new/rebuilt vacuum pump (115/230v, 5+ CFM) for students to use to help build our first vacuum former. I included a list below of what we need in case any of the parts are possible to receive.
I can certainly put your business name in the backdrop of our work area and send pictures of us utilizing your donations.
If such donations are possible, I’ve enclosed our mailing address.
All of the students share a range of disabilities and can have emotional impairments, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, anxiety disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, just to name a few.
