Does your vape hardware contain PFAS?

Curious if anyone has also been discussing this. We have had several clients reach out to us about it.

Do you know what chemicals are inside your vape hardware?

At AVEO, we take pride in our commitment to manufacturing vaping products of the highest quality and safety standards. Recently, we have been made aware of a new regulation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)*, a group of chemicals commonly used in coatings and products that resist heat, oil, stains, grease, and water.

The CDC has found that PFAS can accumulate in the environment, and can potentially cause health effects in humans. While the health effects of low-level exposure to PFAS in humans are uncertain, studies suggest that PFAS may affect growth and development, reproduction, thyroid function, the immune system, and the liver. The CDC has also found PFAS in the blood serum of nearly all people tested in the US, indicating widespread exposure to these chemicals.

One type of component that may contain PFAS is fluorosilicones, which are commonly used in pods and some 510 cartridges with flat heating (printed film) elements. Until recently, many hardware brands believed that fluorosilicone was superior to regular silicone due to its resistance from leaching THC and terpenes, and some even used it as a selling feature.

As a retailer or customer of vaping products, it is important to always learn what is inside the product you are buying or selling. Knowing the materials used in the product can help you make informed decisions about the potential risks associated with its use.

So, how can you find out if your vape contains PFAS? The best way is to check with the manufacturer or supplier of the product. Many reputable companies will provide information about the materials used in their products, including whether or not they contain PFAS. If the information is not readily available, you can contact the company directly and ask for clarification.

The new regulation from the CDC regarding PFAS is an important reminder that we should always be aware of the materials used in the products we buy and sell. By staying informed and making informed decisions, we can help protect ourselves and our customers from potential harm. As a manufacturer, AVEO will continue to prioritize safety and quality in our products and encourage others to do the same.
