Does a 10 micron triclamp screen hold celite?

Hey,

Just gonna set up a mini CRC.
My local supplier only has a 10 micron 2" silicon gasket style filter.

Will that hold celite? Or do I need to go smaller? Was gonna throw a bunch of b80 on top and call it a day.

Was gonna run with a pressure assist but maybe to like 20-30psi.

Does that make sense?

Was gonna run with room temperature pentane.

Don’t use screen gaskets you’re asking for trouble. Use a steel filter plate and coffee filters at the very least

I second Apothecary, youll blow through that gasket screen in short order without something bracing them against the flow

I dont think you can use silicone gaskets with pentane. But to answer you’re question, since celite 545 is 20-1000 microns in particle size it should be sufficient to hold the celite but you can confirm this by running some solvent thru the column after u pack it and evaporating your solvent.

This is assuming you bought your Celite 545 from Sigma, because the same product from other manufacturers isnt manufactured to the same stringent specifications as sigma/millipore’s product.

On a side note, has anyone ever seen these before?
