Does anyone else here think that someone will try to patent the standard [spool and base] design and try to sue independent extractors.
its already patented…whether its enforceable is another story…one day i imagine gene pool will go after most of the main players in the industry. We will no longer sell prebuilt extractors in 2025. not worth the risk.
Anything prebuilt also carries liability
It reminds me of the RepRap printers. How Stratasys owns the patent for the extruder style 3D printers.
How many open source printers there are and how many people build them using the same basic concept as the patent.
Aren’t most of them sold in parts anyways? How many companies ship the extraction units assembled?
I do not think so. We sell way more pressure tested extractors than parts kits. Not even close. We just do better on other SKUs. I think this is gonna hurt a lot of people like ETS in the future.
Someone should offer to buy the patent from them.
Missed that boat…., it was available for sale for $350k like 10 years ago when tamisium started to not be relevant anymore.
Now I doubt it’s for sale.
When I worked for Precision many years ago the patent holders tried to make a case multiple times, never had any legs
The only real issue and thank God for the wave reeling back from the community - is the china sellers and china parts. In some cases you can find decent basic parts. In other cases we have unscrupulous conmen selling china stainless that isn’t even real stainless. I heard a saying years ago that 99.5 percent of all bho accidents are caused by china hardware. We as a community only hear about 1% of those accidents since the low ballers don’t admit to these accidents and just re order the same cheap junk and cause another accident.
The blight on the cannabis industry has been caused by addicts who opperate labs, incompetent individuals, drunk people, and severely low grade and bad qc components that are meant to fail essentially.
China doesn’t care about you or me or anyone, they just want their money. Safety is of no concern, 99% of the asme badges on vessels are fake and or duplicat copies resold in China to dupe and scam export customers.
If you guys have been following along with the injured party lawsuits you can see a paper trail that leads to conmen jackass sellers who only wanted to profit from consumers in this market, and had no heart or soul in the business to begin with. There’s probably only 4-5 sellers out there who are thorough bred extractors who actually care about the industry.
And the risk of death, and it’s not a one off issue. Multiple people have died making hash in our modern times.
I’ve only seen one for a stupid glass diamond miner blowing up and the XD lawsuit, where are the china liability cases
they probably dont have legs to stand on because most of the fires and accidents are in illegal bho labs. Probably hard to sue if your doing illegal activities.
Those are the risks of running illegal bho labs.
I agree with @Mapletreelahey in a lot he said. China dont care about anyone here.
I know. I deal with them weekly. I like my sales reps, but they have no clue the dangers. They just wanna sell a part and if there is a problem. They will replace. BUT if the company importing isnt doing proper QC. WELL thats when you see their products on the BHO fire threads. I dont want to sell extractors no more because i fear an accident. I dont want to hurt anyone and we dont sell enough extractors a year to justify a lawsuit from gene pool or any others.
I even agree with @Mapletreelahey when he says some of these parts arent even stainless. Some of these amazon systems. Ebay systems. You can see some of the fittings are carbon steel. Some of the guages are brass. Id say most of the spools and shit is stainless but he has a point.
We know who @Mapletreelahey is. LOL I dont always agree with him but he makes good points.
Furthermore… even illegal… I think if your product has killed a single person in this industry. You should be outta business. No passing go. No collecting $200. And probably deserve to have karma catch up with you however it does.
There’s more than a few I think. Some of them either weren’t publicly listed or were under other names not searchable. And some were just paid out before it went to court.
Some states don’t publicly list cases apparently. So you can only see the public ones.
The reason why everyone knows the XD one is apparently one of his staff members may have died and the others are ganged up suing him for injuries and suffering. But we all know one of the biggest scammer scumbags in the industry is Chang min. His sister may be suing him too. His whole family left everyone who got injured out to dry and is fighting against them after he apparently self-certified his china gear that he knew was defective.
I think at some point all the companies have been sued for something. These mso executives sue everyone even if a bill isn’t paid. The gene pool lawsuits are complex and bad for the industry. Doing illegal lab work would exclude people from suing each other. Untill our peers and people around us change as a whole we will still see these lawsuits. As a great example @TheWillBilly ran around boasting about patenting work other people did before he ever landed on the scene and it’s not like the community revolted against him. People like this who are complete scumbags exist and don’t care about individuals or companies who are in for the heart and soul of the extraction game.
What about people selling fake asme. Isn’t that also a form of immediate negligence for-profit profiteering?
there are asme welding shops in china. Do i think there are some fake certs. Yes. Do i think its right… No. But thats their karma to deal with. I wont or havent ever sold asme products.
tamisium looked cool but looked like it’s such a perfect way to fuck up
I wish I started with an MK3. Though my first base and lid were both MK3 I just configured it weird at the time. I loved the dip tube on the recovery side, that was such a perfect feature and should be a standard.
Times have changed, Gene Pool is regularly winning in court now
can you point us to some cases to read
