Do stainless steel cartridges taste funny??

We have had several requests to develop a cartridge using stainless steel.

Currently, we utilize a “lead-free copper” that isn’t truly lead-free, but meets and exceeds RoHs and CA heavy metals standards that is also electroplated.

The theory behind stainless steel is that it would be more affordable than the “lead-free” copper and plating process we utilize today.

However, we’ve tested several rounds of cartridges using our AVD ceramic core and have been noticing a metal aftertaste after oils sit in the cartridges for more than 48 hours. Especially high terp formulations.

We’ve seen posts from coffee enthusiasts and wine enthusiasts that claim drinking out of stainless cups or mugs also creates a weird aftertaste.

Curious if others have experienced the same? We’d like to launch a stainless steel offering, as it is actually easier and cheaper for us to produce, but do have concerns regarding it ruining the flavor the exceptional flavor that our carts have become known for.

Your personal experiences and feedback please!

Would be weird considering that a lot of oils are extracted and processed in stainless, and in some cases people have it in contact for longer periods of times in pressure vessels for crystallizing. There are many grades of stainless though.

Yeah. That’s an excellent point. Could have been the the type of stainless steel. We’ve also considered plating it as well.

Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe the lead in the non-stainless carts acts as a sweetener.

Total joke. I’ve used your carts and I like them a lot.
