Diy vac oven. or trade unlikely trade.

I was considering modifying my Maytag electric oven into a vacuum oven. Then I realized maybe someone with an actual vacuum oven needs a nice turkey baker in the kitchen. So here it is if anyone (I know, unlikely) wants to trade. After the apocalypse is over of course.

How were you going to modify it? Interesting

The controls/ heater on the oven is likely overkill for this, not to mention that the shell of the oven would implode from vacuum. You might want to make a vacuum chamber and wrap it in a silicone heater, control that bad boy with a pid and you got it!

What kinds of tools/ materials do you have access to?

I was thinking cut a ten inch diameter hole in the side and insert bvv chamber I already have.
Then I was like why not do both sides? It’s a convection model so… heat would circulate around the vac chamber/s. That’s when I thought to consult the collective.
Any other ideas to mod this thing?
Edit. I’m a mechanic. W/Plasma cutter and welder. Other toys.

the chamber within the oven idea seems sound, you know how to rig up a pid control?

Is your oven 220 volt?

I don’t know anything about a PID controller but learning is my job. Yes the oven is 220 or 240vac. It has pretty nice controls on it now.

Hmm i have an old brand new oven sitting out on the farm. Maybe this is a good project for it

Where do I start reading on PID?Besides Future. For this or other projects.

You can convert a 15 gallon vacuum chamber to have about the same shelf space as a 1.9cu ft oven using a heating jacket and making a wire screen rack for the inside. Not the best but it gets the job done.

There may be some things close to that size/shape that can be converted too. Just an idea

you need pid pointers? dm me your questions.
How did this project turn out?

This project is on the ever so crowded back burner, pending re-evaluation. The chamber I have, uses an acrylic lid, not ideal.

You need something made?

Really thinking about scrapping the oven project. Saving my pennies for other toys.
