Distillate is…purple?

My team is thinking it could possibly be left-over terpenes that we’re not stripped out during distillation. Anyone seen this before?

Very common with basic pH. Neutralize pH and it should go back to normal. I believe it’s quinones making the purple, look up “alkaline beam test”.

Looks like oxidation, or more likely a ph imbalance.

Is this THC or CBD? Was this product remediated? Looks like what I’ve seen when distilling remediated crude and distillate that wasn’t properly pH balanced before distilling. The liklihood of it being terpenes is slim to none, imo. Does the disty smell strongly of heads, tails, or the good smelling terps? If no, definitely not the issue.

How did it look while being distilled? How’s it look thin-filmed? All the purple stuff I’ve dealt with has been water clear until it bulked up in the collection flask, and it became darker, more comically purple the more it collected.

Also, the last purple stuff I dealt with would not correct itself even when properly pH adjusted prior to re-distillation, so this may be the color you are left with. Chances are it will test out fine, but you may have made quinones and other things (like D8) from distilling at the wrong pH that will make it hard to sell unless mixed into foods.

Did your crude ever come in contact with media or water with a pH higher than 8? If you used alkaline water did you use pH up or lye?

Common when scrubbed with media that isn’t Neutral.
Especially if you Hot Scrubbed. Get a CoA and make sure you didn’t accidently make some d8-THC

@dhill420 Just turn it to Shatter or pour over THCa Diamonds and say you did it on purpose!

I’ve seen it distill like this with miniscule amounts of carbon left in it from filtration.
