The freezer works
I have a jar 4+months vac sealed with mason jar lid attachment. Zero red ring of death.
I vac it down to -25. As much as my mighty vac hand vac can pull it down to.
Ball came out with some amber jars last year. I saw the 64oz ones at Walmart the other day.
I think they only come in wide mouth, 64, 32 and 16 oz size.

Just fyi while oil and water are immiscible, oils will dissolve water to a point. It reaches a saturation limit which is dependent on viscosity and temperature where any addition of water will be free in a droplet or emulsion. This is why oil can have a water content (up to around 10,000 PPM) and still be clear. It is noticeable when dabbing as sputtering and popping of the oil. Above this the oil will become cloudy and you would be able to see it.
Just because you dried off top water layer does not mean it didnāt dissolve in the oil. Try scraping some off the top and dabbing to see how the water content is. The colder the oil/water is stored like this, the less likely it is to dissolve.
Yes sir which is why I keep it refrigerated but part of my testing is to dab that too layer and also fill.a few sample carts with a top layer of this stored distillate
Seems like vacuum or nitrogen does just as well, and doesnāt require discarding 3-10g of distillate. Though I suppose you do have the option of redistilling what you have to scrape off.
But⦠If youāre selling the stuff while itās in jars it seems easy to just seal them in a more user friendly manner.
Iām leaning towards the use of this stuff and a fridge

So far seems to be working great and easy as hell to use
If you put the lid and ring on the mason jar tight, then back off the ring alittle bit- the air will still be evacuated from the jar when you vac down the oven, and when vac is released the lid is on that jar thight as hell. You just have to tighten the ring only 1/16 of a turn.
yeah id avoid the water. you may have protected the top layer with the water and prevented oxidation, until you blasted it with air for 5 minutes while you were removing the water. inert gases ftw
@MrRandy I know this is old but just curious how these have been working for you? This sounds way more simple than argon or even vac sealing. And I bet you could get multiple seals even on a 64oz mason jar, can you confirm any of my assumptions haha?
There are no assumptions. Just facts. Oxygen and uv light degrade oil. Eliminate those and long term storage is not a problem.
Donāt use water. Even with minor biodegradable contamination, youāll get a bit of microbial growth.
I just store my stuff in the vacuum oven after the oven is done cooling. - thatās how I store my shatter, I donāt make disty-
You can screw the band on relatively tight and still pull vac on the inside of a canning jar. Saw it done (accidentally) just last week.
This is why we can grow diamonds in jarsā¦because they will leak under pressure (designed to hold vac!).
Part of this makes sense to me. Displacing the air in the headspace of storage container.
I would not use water tho. An inert gas will work. Try N2 or Argon.
super cold fridge & dark they will last a long time sealed well
no need gas. but argon best
