Discussion on PII rules

what level does it become doxxing? If someone has a legit business with a name associated to it can you give an honest review? I got banned from a casino for doxing a cheating couple by first name on yelp. Ken and elaine sit next to each other at poker EVERY time. He was behind her telilng her what to do during a tournament so I posted.

As far as how I’ll conduct myself: if you want to review a business, do so by reviewing that business and leave the usernames out of it. Or vice versa (or review the username but don’t mention the member explicitly). If you want to go deeper than that, make sure you ask first. :man_shrugging:

I understand the concern when it comes to someone who is literally doing harm to people and you feel like a warning is necessary but honestly that doesn’t seem to be the big issue with doxxing here and also, review the business, not the username.

some guys do that to me in threads I havent even posted in- fuckem.

I like that. Review the business, not the username. It’s just hard when the username personality is so closely tied to that business. I can’t really hide behind a screen name.

I genuinely appreciate most people here. It makes me sad to see people personally cutting others down or exposing their personal safety. The only time I have problems communicating with my wife is when my ego gets in the way. Cruising the nuances of etiquette versus rules makes my head spin. I wish people would just put their ego to the side and focus on learning and education here, but at the end of the day, we are all human. I can wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which fills up faster.

Am I the only one who finds this discussion absurd? You are responsible for what data you put on the internet. If you don’t want that data connected to your name, be more careful.

Not directed at anyone in particular

Agreed, there’s a picture of my dumb face on here somewhere, haha.

I don’t mind too much, as far as I know there’s no way to connect it to my full name without being an absolute fucking weirdo. Which, at that point, fuck around and find out :joy:

I wouldn’t mind if anyone dropped my name, or picture on this site. I live in a legal state, and I don’t really break the law any more because I’m not getting shitfaced drunk every night. (I’m a black out drinker, and have woke up in jail with no fucking idea what I did to get there more than once.)
That being said, I personally would never drop a name in a thread, and I don’t understand the logic behind wanting to dime out others.? I still haven’t felt the need to go digging around to actually find someone’s real name. If they want me to know it, they’ll tell me, otherwise you’ll stay your username in my head.

You will always be a hallucinating goat to me. If I ever see one in real life I will say: Hello capttripppp, I am WTP.

This is the meme that I got my profile pic from! Definitely a hallucinating goat!

You Google things you’re NOT looking for?

That’s next level!

Getting folks to Google shit they ARE looking seems non-trivial some days…

I just have him blocked when he gets annoying but you have a very good point.

Since we have your ear, what is the policy on doxxing people on top of being a rampant screenshot grabber and reposter of private conversations? Asking for my BFF @Kingofthekush420

If derailing a thread is an actionable defense what about attempting to derail someone’s IRL freedom?

Something rowan was guilty of doing as well toward mosaic.

I think he has already been punished for that action. No double jeopardy

Your mom is on a roll this month

If this is in reference to kotk and his first silence thats over with / time served. If it happened/happening again let me know. People really hate this answer but PII is very much a case by case basis and we reserve the right to decide how ostracized from the forum one should get. If kotk posted PII again after the last fiasco id be moderately suprised.

Thanks. I didn’t know it was a long time ago.

Just wary of his actions being a constant security risk for people.

People hate this answer even more… 99% of the time someone calls DOX it was actually they themselves that put that info on the public internet. I have very little sympathy for, and cannot control what users put on the internet themselves. If someone googles your screen name to find your real one, what am I possibly gonna do about that?

I searched for PII. I think there have been some precedents set with past events?
