Ive been looking into BHO extraction. From the research Ive done there seems to be 2 types of extraction set ups that are most common. So my question is whats the difference between them and which one should a noob extractor buy? From what i understand closed loop uses a vacuum to depressurize the equipment before the introduction of butane, and the closed column does not. Is that the only difference? Or am I completely wrong and missing something? I have included examples of the set ups that Im looking at in the links bellow. If anyone has experience with BVV can you share your opinion about them too.
Closed column is similar to open blasting except you now have control of flow and can soak material if needed. You also are able to vacuum column before runs. Closed loop is the safest for anybody. It utilizes a collection base underneath material column to catch oil/solvent mixture. From there you can recover your solvent to be reused. A closed loop keeps all solvent contained whereas a closed column does not. suggest researching a lot more if you plan on doing anything.
ok that makes a lot more sense the way you explained it. I still have a lot to read before i buy anything. Dont want to blow myself up or kill myself with bad product.
