Did I just screw myself?

Hello everyone. So, I guess I’m just trying to make myself feel better but I did a stupid thing and forgot to turn my vent fan back on in my 4x3 tent. Humidity was 91% for probably close to 12 hours. I’m three days out from chopping at least 10 zips of 707 OG Kush. Am I screwed?

I think you can save it. Just dry it out and be extra careful and use clean materials

No… turn your fans on bro. In nature it rains all the time.

That’s what I was thinking to but feel like a complete ass forgetting to turn it on in the first place.

You’re probably fine. You can check for mold by looking at the biggest colas and pulling the buds apart a little. If you see any white fuzz, then harvest immediately. Mold tends to be strain-specific, and unfortunately the biggest most dense buds get it the worst.

Do a thorough scope of the large colas/the densest areas of canopy. It all depends on air flow and the cleanliness of your room. 12 hours probably won’t be an issue if you get the levels down now.

Yes, it rains in nature. Buds also mold in nature (depending on the region they’re grown and time of season). Occasional rainfall isn’t an issue, multiple rainfalls towards the end of the cycle can absolutely be an issue. Chopping 3 days early isn’t the worst thing if you have to (probably unnecessary though).

Unfortunately, being 3 days from chop, you may not notice anything visible till after you start drying…

Another reason I love me some UV in grow… The newer hydrogen peroxide generators are pretty awesome too… Work amazing. The addition of both these things would have this situation a non-issue.

Also every morning outdoor get covered in dew, almost into harvest “frosting” your fine.

Yes, which leads to mold if a human doesn’t intervene and chop it down in time. In nature, a plant’s function is to reproduce, not be smoked by humans…

You can maintain proper humidity levels in a room and still end up with mold if the canopy is too dense/not enough air flow. His sensor placement could be way off for all we know.

UV/H2O2 are both great suggestions, they’re not always practical for the tent grower though.

I do agree with what you’re saying for the most part, and 12 hours is likely fine if humidity has been in check leading up to that point.

This is one company with a pretty popular offering. You could probably build em cheaper for a commercial operation and add them to HVAC.

I did do that and haven’t noticed anything so far.

Humidity has been in the low 30’s the last 6 weeks and I do keep a pretty clean tent.

That’s lower than necessary, so hopefully you’ll be fine.

Both have disinfectant properties on their own. When used in conjunction they form hydroxyl radicals. When ozone and H202 are combined, it starts the peroxone process, also forming small amounts of H2O3.

It’s important to use a product that emits these in levels safe for humans. The ProGuard is a solid choice (in proper sized rooms or on a timer). Their mini is no ozone producing.

that’s the best way to learn and improve. don’t beat yourself up over it.
