DES: Deep eutectic Solvents (new)

There’s menthol crystals on the shelf below all the sterols and coq10 etc can we liquify them and do some test runs? Curious about esters.

Flex it! Let’s go!!

And then there’s the membrane and RESIN filtration post crude…
Haven’t seen or used — who is using resin adsorption??

@anon86230761 I think this subject should be bumped back to current discussion.

More recently NADES have become a hot topic: Natural deep eutectic solvents.
Where I think we will find this subject matter most fruitful is in the understanding of how Butane interacts with the Terp-Soup found in the Trichome storage structure especially at minus 40.
The question would be whether the cannabinoic acids are integral to the composition of a NADES in the trichome head and that solvent dissolves the terps (thinking backwards!) or is there a terp based NADES that dissolves the Cannabinoic Acids. Interesting it is reported that NADES and HDES have considerable capacity to absorb CO2 which may affect relative pH.

This paper is for references to more literature on the subject of NADES

This latter reference is interesting as it seems to be the origin of the idea that natural deep utectic solvents may exist and the fact that Robert Verpoorte was one of the authors, Verpoorte is well known in Cannabis circles having been Arron Hazekamp’s mentor.

Type V DES with extensive H-bonded networks.= NADES description (theory)may well be applicable the extracellular volume element referred to as trichome storage compartment.
“ DESs can be defined as mixtures of two or more compounds, a combination of hydrogen bond donors (HBDs) and hydrogen bond acceptors (HBAs), that form liquids upon mixing with melting points far below that of the individual components, due to self-association‘“

When butane meets cannabis plant at -40, this is the locus of action. The DES concept may explain away the non crystalline nature of the “solvent-solute” complex and the rather rapid miscibility with butane. At dilute solution in butane the NADES disappears. And we all know that THCA does not necessarily “LIKE” butane and readily crashes out.
Just remember there are 3 thousand plus identified solutes in a hexane extract of trichomes. These 3000 solutes are in bubble hash and exhibit GOO properties.

The NADES fluid description of trichome volume may be a helpful in describing bubble hash properties*, pressed rosin physical properties and interaction with non polar aprotic solvent to the point of miscibility .

Dilute solution chemistry of cannabinoic acids in Butane and precipitation from concentrated solutions are two additional and different playing fields.

I wonder if some of those will leave funky flavours but citric acid and a sugar based nades maybe interesting if it works
