Delrin vs PTFE for mechanical separation: Machinability vs Chemical compatibility?

Bucket says 800g.

Just one more thing in my life held together with rubber bands (innertube)…(lost the battery cover).

do you have any tubes/bottles for it? I’d like to see the ID of the mouth. I’m curious if you could just come up with a PTFE washer to make @waxplug1 strainers work with an off the shelf one. That’d be the cheapest custom option most likely

Not yet, I’ve submitted a request for four of 750ml bottles and “rosin bags” as of today. We’ll see how that goes.

Also got more 50ml tubes in, because I should be able to swing 16 of them in here rather that the 8 I can fit in the fixed angle rotor in the machine we had lying around.

It worked well enough to convince the boss to grab the 3l machine, so I imagine he’ll get the required parts in eventually.

I can’t find that page in your website.

Did you have those things custom made?

These look similar…

The silicone seal is a no go…

Edit: got it. Site:gochemtek.com canning jars

Yea we had them made custom. The ones we carry are 25 micron and we should have smaller micron sizes as well soon

This pic below was a prototype of a second model we were making for reinforcement but then realized it was all in the ramp speed and balancing

looks like the mill I’ve got access to came with a set of radius gauges!

my 15mm guesstimate wasn’t bad. when confronted with the radius gauges I picked the 1/2" by sight, and it looked to be spot on (the guy who owns the mill is beginning to believe my “I just guess well” ).

trying to catch up with @JacobsLadder today and try out his 100mm buckets. once we’ve modified his model to fit I’ll probably hit @Soxhlet to actually make these buckets.

@cyclopath

any luck with inserts, old friend? i am using this same rotor right now and haven’t found the right vessel to insert yet. I’m using rosin bags and PET jars from uline…

The adapters that @JacobsLadder printed for me worked great.

The 50ml consumables were not a win.

Haven’t gotten back to the problem as the input stream dried up.

Looks like an attempt was made to spin 2 cup jars with “bags” in the lids, but I wasn’t around to see how badly it failed (doesn’t look like anything broke).

Delrin ain’t easier to machine, it’s just got some nuances that take some experience to nail down - I have been machining PTFE for a few months now and I have 0 problems getting nice parts made

I’m up in portland, if you need something made LmK I have lots of stock to work from

Edit: example of some ptfe components we made here at the shop

I see I see ty. I definitely want to get away from the little 50ml tubes… very tedious work to load and unload them.

The rosin bags work great, I just need to find the perfect vessel. Plastic or stainless 32oz or 1L no bigger than 100mm diameter….

The jars were using now are just a hair too short and get stuck in the rotor horizontally when spinning lol.

We need poly jars to put these in! can you make them?
