can i delete dms sent to me? i dont like to ekep messages messages with PII in my inbox
I don’t know how to delete a dm thread via mobile but you can do it on a browser by clicking the X when you hover over the user

Also just removing a thread from your end likely doesn’t do anything to remove the info from the server or the other users end.
@sidco might be able to clarify that more

Both (all) users have to remove themselves from the DM then it will get deleted in 24 hours. You can ask the other participant to remove themselves. If you do and they dont, it stays.

Are msgs actually deleted from the database or are they just flagged with some boolean value so they’re hidden/inactive?
After 24 hours they are deleted from the live database. I do take regular backups so there is a good chance they still exist for up to a year on a LUKs encrypted hdd
