Decarbbed diamonds turning into sugary sludge when adding terps?

Anyone ever have perfectly decarbbed diamonds, and when adding terps (regular online bought terps, not HTE), the diamonds end up turning into a sugary sludge?

TIA

Do you have labs confirming your THCa to Delta 9 numbers? What’s your decarb method? Also, how are you mixing them?

No never have I seen perfectly decarbed thca diamonds, aka thc, turn into sugar sludge when adding terps. I suspect the decarbed diamonds are not decarbed. Do you have test results?

Fully decarbbed, yes.

ISO was decarbbed in oven at 250F until no more co2 bubbles were forming, til it was no longer thca, aka thc. Product at room temp was in a “honey” state (was not solid)

Can find test results.

Ok, the next guess would be CBD, but this is where trustworthy 3rd party analytical testing is necessary to troubleshoot further.

No sir; can guranteed no CBD.

It’s odd because the terps mixed normally at first until I started seeing crystals form until gradually becoming just full on sludge.

Almost as if the Terps had thca in them.. but idk odd… just asking opinions or experiences

Sure sounds like cbd lol….You’d need at least 50% thca to be crashing out still. An that’s pushing it. BUt when you warm cbd and add a solvent (terps) and then mix, you can easily get crystallization. What temps are you mixing at and for what duration? Any chance of a pic of the “sludge”?

So if the end decarbbed diamonds had any other cannabinoid in there, the terp mixture will make it react?

250F , let it cool for a min out the oven and mix with dab tool for 5-10 mins

Doing small batch test runs atm

Not necessarily. What I mean is if you have a predominantly CBD oil it could crash out under your current described sop. THC with anything under 60% cbd isn’t going to crystallize or crash out like you’re describing.

How long was the thca in the 250F oven?

Dude get yourself a magnetic stirrer/ heater and a stir bar for 50-100 bux on amazon. This will help immensely, i bet your terps just aren’t mixing properly. Pictures worth a thousand words….

Should be timing it tbh, but I’m going off visual (no more co2 bubbles) and end weight. I’m so ocd I may stir it around, get it to room temp, and do it again for another 10+ or so minutes just to make sure lol.

If I had to guess 45 mins - 60 mins

I have a magnetic stir bar and heater.

Figured 25gs would be easy mix by hand though.

You mention minutes. I typically measure decarb time in hours. This may be a clue.

I’ve seen similar times. Usually 250f for 3-4 hours depending on batch size.

Numbers please…or it didn’t happen

45 mins - 60 mins

Maybe another 10-20 to “double check”

I mean should I keep it in there til I see turn into a dark brown? If no more co2 bubbles are forming, why keep it in there any longer?

You can use the conversion which is what I assume you mean by weight. 87.7% should be your yield after a perfect decarb and not accounting for any terps present.

Because if it crystallizes you still have mostly THCa (or CBD/CBG)

Exactly what I mean…

Can account for a 13% loss or so.

Sure, an accurate disciplined person should be timing… but also I can do weight ?
