DavidB GoFundMe for funeral costs and scholarship

This is pretty clearly for David B. If anyone knows of a gofundme for the other people that died, the guy that got hurt, whomevers this business was, or for the neighboring businesses that were destroyed, feel free to post them as well.

I’ll be sending homie the label for the seeds later tonight. I’ll go threw the list but I’ll also message everyone who’s liked the comment about the seeds

I wont charge anyone shipping for the seeds as this is something I’m doing because I can and this community is what put me in this position so its the least I can do to give back

@Allison, David’s buddy with the seeds has a tool box, cold trap and some other items of his and was wondering if you’d want them?

David was a good friend. We went to college together and we were both thesis students of Dr. Paul Scudder, who wrote one of David’s favorite chemistry books “Electron Flow in Organic Chemistry”. I should be able a get a hold of his college honors thesis and lab notebook from Dr. Scudder that I will bring to the service for anyone who will be there that would like to see it. I made a memorial for him on campus and will be adding some photos and quotes from this thread. We used to get high and draw the chemical structures of whatever we took on the chalk board painted on our living room wall. So many wonderful memories. It is nice to see how many people loved David and what a big impact he made in the community. The gofundme organized by Ruthie Busch is the official gofundme organized by his family.

Man this is super tragic. I did not know David in person, but we often replied to each other’s stories on IG and I really liked chatting with him. He was clearly a brilliant and kind person and he touched a lot of people’s lives. He was one of us and we know all too well something similar could happen to any of us when we work in high risk environments.

I was just looking over some of our messages and one stood out to me. I replied to his IG story post about electron density maps of molecules and I joked about how the material world really is nothing but probability waves of arbitrary forces and he replied, “Yeah lol, so everyone needs to lighten TF up and get on that arbitrary probability vibe”

I hope we can find out the true causes of the fire not for the purpose of assigning blame to anyone, but so that we can all better understand the risks involved when doing this kind of work, and so that people can knowingly choose to, or choose not to operate in a manufacturing lab based on the risks. To me it seems that the scale of the fire would have mostly been due to a large volume of solvents in storage for biomass extraction. Perhaps an initial accidental explosion ignited the stored solvents, such as ethanol, that eventually led to a bigger blaze. The international fire code lists maximum allowable quantities of solvents per storage area and guidelines for hazard classifications for good reason. Please consider those safety recommendations for your own sake, for the safety of colleagues and coworkers, and the safety of your lab’s neighbors in the industrial part of town.

Thank you David for all that you have done and the generosity with your wisdom of chemistry. Be kind to each other out there, any one of us could be gone tomorrow.

Dr Paul was David’s favorite

He always use to talk about how smart he was and after reading some of that book I couldn’t agree with him more

David said he was lucky to study under such a great teacher

Wow…

I grew up with David down the street in Wisconsin. Word of this is just spreading to old friends.

We have had countless good times, and unfortunately in recent memory not so great of times that I am unable to reconcile now. Our last interaction was especially not great and am thinking back to that now.

Sneaking out at night and jumping into the neighbors pool, fucking around with his older brother George, cross country, boy scouts etc. Countless memories.

Not surprised to see he had such an effect on the community and industry. He was smart like that.

Not sure how I got here but wanted to make an account and leave a comment after stumbling upon this. Sorry to everyone who knew him

I meet David and Rowan back in 2019 in Reno when I had first gotten into the industry. This was around the time of the Nevada facility.

While I never got involved with them, I stayed in touch with David on Instagram. I really regret not talking or interacting more.
He will truly be missed.

Even if you never knew David like myself he lives in all of us. I have a similar story to him and it could have easily been me. I’ve survived systems malfunctioning on a consult and I was lucky to live. If anyone knows who to give cash to for a donation I want to donate. A lot of us have risked our lives and future to better this industry we all love.

RIP to a great He made this industry a better place.

Yes please! A few of us have been trying our best to help David’s family locate and navigate any belongings that may have been stored during his travels. I have been in constant contact with them and would love to discuss this further. I don’t know how to do this on this site, my apologies. Please let me know how we can proceed, and thank you again.
