Cylinder tank volume and calculating it properly

O hey killa. Been meaning to tell you your 50 liter tanks arnt 50 liters therre much less . Glad to see you here

Hey if you knew volume math you would actually know they are bigger than 50L but hey math is crucial in this business. You know we have had this math volume question in the past.

The tank is 30”x14”…….

I’m super confused…is this a hydrocarbon tank that’s being discussed?

I’m thinking hydrocarbons are typically measured in lbs not litres right?

Or is it liquid volume of hydrocarbon?

I thought we were looking at the extractor and what looks like a chilling coil in “plexiglass”

Water and butane will fill the same volume but have different physical weight. If you give them the raw weight in liters it’s an easy conversion from liquid weight of water to liquid weight of butane which is important.

Me too okay, so I’m on the same page here. :octopus:

I love this makeshift blast room OP compiled. I was thinking of turning one room in my apartment like this but it would take renovating everything in the room down to the wiring.

Believe it or not, it not as much as one would think to make lighting, electrical and ventilation to be ran for an explosion/spark free room.

What would take a lot is the cost of getting the electrical installed properly and redoing the flooring.

Blacking out a window and silencing systems are probably needed too to keep major discretion but still… It’s not as much as one would think.

I mean still in the thousands but not anywhere near 100k your looking at like 10k if you buy the parts and only pay for labor.

Edit can get up there in price depending on what you go with but realistically it’s probably more in the 18k range to make a decent small blast room.

Ahhhh okay that’s extremely good to know. I got confused cause I’m so used to lbs being used for hydrocarbon tank discussions so it threw me off for a second.

Im being a smartass but does your cylinder volume calculator include with hemi domes on each end? its a little bit less Id presume with the hemis.

No. We do our calculations using flat lids but with every hemi lid and circular base it will actually have a bit more volume but we don’t count that extra when giving our volume numbers even though it actually has more volume.

So to answer your question. It’s actually higher than 50L with the hemi lids but we just make it easy without calculating the extra semi circle volume too.

I thought he was talking solvent tank total length x width They are hemispherical at the ends yes, and manufacturers take that into account id presume when rating volume. The volume ratings are always water. USA is kinda dumb sticking to imperial weights and measures. trump shoulda changed that.

I pick up propane for the garden all the time= at the place i get it refilled its an outdoor station with competent yet not highly trained employees, the rule is no smoking. no c1d1 its outdoors. theyve never asked but id say i bbq lots.

458.15$

or those

Why not a sealed skylight with an led from well above teh sealed booth? 900 dollar lights? id presume my flashlight is a no go in a c1d1 but ill bet a million i cant start a fire with it.

If it dont leak in 30 feet of water the electrons arent escaping to the hydrocarbons.

like marine equipment would suffice?

  • I would go with the larson c1d1 for the almost 500 imo

It’s 44 liters

A 30x14 holds 19.992 gallons of water

Or 75.678 liters

Hemi dome ends like all tanks have lower it by a bit. still prolly 50 liter

Lets say it’s only 22” tall and still the same 14” wide

That’s 55.494 liters

The tank I got is 12 inches wide and 24 inches tall
