Cyclic vomiting syndrome / abdominal migranes

I’m not a fan of throwing serious pain medicine at any old problem, but there’s been a few times I’ve needed them. It’s not recreational (tho that first shot was quite a nice surprise) or fun to “check out” like that.

Not to mention what it does to the gut, after being in there for gut problems.

Seems like all e.r. drugs are dumped in the i.v. when possible for the quickest uptake

yep and they care not for the personal use they only want to fix the problem at hand.

which is not a bad thing.

but .

responsible drug use is knowing how the route of intake effects the drug and the receptor.

this is something we all need to teach.

if you use things the wrong way addiction and change in mental state is to be
expected.

So I’ve been taking cbd for about a month, i made a pretty strong olive oil tincture with rosemary and thyme (still tastes like shit but I dont care lol) and some 74% crude from a friend. I gotta say I’ve felt better in almost every conceivable way after two or three days.

I just had a thought, if cbd can modulate the effects of thc, could it suppress the mechanism that causes chs episodes? I’m not the most knowledgable on the receptors etc…

Is that why the super strong tincture I was talking about way earlier in this thread worked?

Edit lots of minors in the oil too, and as a bonus it was pretty hot as well.

Thoughts anyone?

It’s a real disorder and so is cannabis addiction.

When you have a vomiting episode, do you have pain either in your abdomen (the way CHS is often described) or in your head/neck (like I get)?

If so, dude the next time you get sick you must try getting yourself into hot water, for science. In the moment, it may seem like a silly thing to do, but I didn’t understand it myself until literally the moment the water hit my skin

Sometimes in the mornings when I wake up I get an extreme pain in my abdomen with excruciating nausea. It only lasts 5 or 10 minutes max then goes away.

It is debilitating, but never lasts

Could this be early CHS?

I havent tried a hot bath as it goes away on its own pretty quickly but man that shit fucks me up I feel like I’m dying for like 10 minutes then I feel better

I am prescribed low dose Zofran but I usually don’t take those unless it’s pit of the stomach but it’s never been the abs that hurt only the stomach. It usually feels like in puking up everything in my stomach because I’m constipated. I usually drink miralax once or three times a week or every other week. If I stay active I shit, I guess when I’m a lazy fuck I don’t shit. I do take hot baths and I was gonna actually take one take because it’s been a day of slight nausea and I’m out of Zofran.

I had to look up CHS symptoms because I forgot them all. It’s interesting but I’ve always been afraid of vomiting, when I vomit I go into panic mode but that’s because I also have Autism induced anxiety and some things are too real to ignore and when you just keep puking and puking because you can’t calm down you end up losing a bunch of fluids and stuff.

It’s been really relaxing this year tbh I haven’t had an episode all year… Strike that one episode but I didn’t land in the hospital I just took Zofran and drank fluids and then took an antacid and my girlfriend told me everything is alright and I fell asleep…

Zofran is the shit. Autistic people should just be taking these things.

I mean I get slight pain in my neck and abs from the act of puking so violently but who doesn’t

Side Note : I have noticed that off and on probiotics and off and on once a day vitamin intake is also what I’ve been doing this year and I’m guessing that’s helping my gut be a little nicer about some things.

Gut health is extremely important. Its surprising how many people unknowingly carry helminths and other parasites, and all the wacky effects your gut has on the rest of your body.
Green Vibrance by Vibrant Health greens powder has been a great tool for me.
Bupleurum Dragonbone Oystershell Pills/Chai Hu Long Gu Mu Li Wan Tea Pills by Plum Flower is an herbal remedy that has also done me good for a wide variety of things, but its got mixed reviews depending what you take it for.

It’s not though, Ondansetron like all 5HT3 antagonists not only reduces nausea but also severely inhibits bowel movement.

That is, if you’re puking because you’re also constipated, Setrons can be a slippery slope.

What’s your two cents on chs (cannabis hyperemesis syndrome) @roiplek

would be interesting to see pyloric function and the rate at which a CHS stomach empties.

I had an issue get misdiagnosed as CHS for a few years

I can only speculate about the underlying mechanism, but according to my experience there’s always a hint of some involvement of the serotonergic system (quite plausible since Ondansetron seems to help) as well as problems arising from immunostimulation leading to inflammatory symptoms (possibly induction of Cyclooxygenase-2 resulting in markedly diminished availability of Endocannabinoids).

A common theme seems to be hypomotility of the large intestine with concurrent hypermotility of the small intestine, so basically a clogged pipe connected to a pump running full throttle. Ondansetron helps here because it alleviates hypomotility as well as the resulting nausea from counteracting intestinal muscle movement.

Thanks, bud. I appreciate it.

If you can get CBG, maybe give it a try. That should take care of the Cyclooxygenase-2 BS going on. I have no idea about dosage etc though, while long term inhibition of COX-2 isn’t really a great idea either (see side effects of drugs like Naproxen, Celecoxib, Diclofenac).

I can’t know for sure if it’s CHS, but I would bet not, main reason being that your’s only lasts a short period and then abruptly resolves.

My guess is that your experience stems from recently fasting (i.e. while sleeping), then transitioning to a standing orientation… I sometimes experience that very thing… if that were the case, it should be helped immensely by slamming water… If you are able to in that state…

I think of it as the stomach being all empty and mangled from being asleep, leading to gravity-induced chaos in the gut signaling upon standing

New fun vocabulary word (and nothing new on CHS).

I get dry heaves in the morning. I dont think its from beer beccause i sleep a long time and tha should be gone. but it could be liver related. Or from smoking and coughing in bed while horizontal.

I always scream when I vomit though :joy::joy::joy: drunk, high, sober or fucked up I’m screaming when I puke.
