Looking for a 34/45 adapter glass piece. Anyone have any glass pros out there or a source to get one?
I suppose this is normally where someone should recommend @david, what kind of adapter are you looking for?
Just looking for a 34/45 adapter (an extension straight piece) like this one. About 4 inches between the beginning of the joints (can be longer, just not shorter).
When you say adapter, do you just mean a straight 34/45 extension? Or is it a 24/45 x 34/45 adapter? Seems like the kind of thing that HFS or Laboy would stock (not sure the lead time you’re looking for)
34/45 extension straight piece. 34/45 female at the top and male at the bottom
That’s gotta be a standard part from someone. Let me see if I can dig one up
I’ve been lookin but can’t seem to track one down.
I wanna put it between my condenser and my jacketed cow.
I’ve tried finding an adapter like you described but virtually every listing is a 24/40x34/45 adapter.
Okay, this might be a silly solution, but would you be able to use a 24/40x34/45 adapter and then use a bushel to adapt the 24x40 to 34/45?
Atlernatively you could take something like the 34/45 female and male ends from something like these and connect them together. I don’t know if reducing the throughput hole will hurt the output rate or anything like that though so please excuse me if this doesn’t help. The only other thing I can suggest is to reach out your glass shop by email or to contact a custom lab glass fabricator and have them fab an adapter for you.
I’ve thought about what you recommended but don’t think it’ll work.
I need a straight extension to allow me to run a Fraction Finder after the condenser but before the jacketed cow.
I was hoping someone could recommend a good glass shop for fabrication. Arometrix doesn’t provide em nor have them (they should) so if I can get a solution to this, it’s possible that Arometrix could pick em up for production of these (since they are no where to be found) and 34/45 bores are becoming more common. They even made the 34/45 sensor (which I now have that and a 24/40).
Also… why hasn’t anyone made boiling flasks with that size joints yet?
@goldleaf_scientific likely to provide
Glass kf25 fittings are vastly, vastly superior to ground glass joints, not sure why @arometrix hasnt begun offering KF/NW flanged fittings yet but if I were them that would be my first priority
Agreed!
I’d love to have a set up with those.
Dm me, vac grease can be a thing of the past
Dm sent
Check out At-Mar glass out of Kennett Square, PA if you want top line quality at a reasonable price. If you can envision it, they can make it.
Thanks for the info! I’ll reach out to em!
Ive used Chemglass for custom pieces although they can take awhile, Ive also used Allen Scientific here in Boulder and would highly recommend both. For overseas Ive used proglass (seller on ebay) a fair amount and overall ive been quite happy with the quality and speed
We can most definitely start offering those. Let us do some research and get back to you!
You can buy the glass joints from adams and chittenden, nw25 up to nw63 I believe
spec whether you’re going glass to glass or glass to metal as they are not the same specs and won’t work out- you need ptfe centering rings and special ptfe clamps - EVAC are Swiss glass to glass clamps that can be found direct from evac or affordably stocked at Lab Society
I wonder if I could just have a glass blower melt my ground glass joints into kf25 flanges
They would cut them off and just attach the new end piece
