Flammable but not as explosive as LPG. Both need ignition source, not present internally.

Clearly N2 would reduce oxygen, but if the system leaks, O2 is present and an ignition source will result in a conflagration as well.

Going full circle, a diaphragm pump will reduce the oil, but not the water, so remediation is still required.

All oil bath air compressors are not created equal, and in industry a reciprocal is often referred to as a water pump. We typically put refrigerative driers and large holding tanks after industrial compressors whether it is a reciprocal or a screw, and then add a trap, a coalescing filter, and a breathing air filter for walk in sandblast cabinet operators.

I used my piston diaphragm pump’s positive pressure side to push 20 psi for filtering. Worked pretty well.

Wait a second, What about a Scroll Compressor!!! And then have it go thru a bunch of air drying filters. 100% oil free air no?
