holy shit. being a rural KY farmer whose family stopped growing tobacco over 2 decades ago… i am excited for this lmao. when hung up our tobacco hat in the late 90s when i was 10…it was because it was unprofitable. Oh how the times have changed. Thanks science haha. what do you guys think about this? tobacco plants that can produce cocaine. this is insane dude
Can they make one that has fentanyl already mixed in?
they’re in the final process of that experiment probably
Lynn, MA I would assume would be on that. Those great scientific minds there already managed to figure out how to do it with weed somehow.
Save on smuggling fees
yeah i’m imagining people will do what Darlene Snell did on Ozark. Watch people get busted trying to move heroin into the country… watch people have to deal with cartels and organized crime. why not grow it here and process it in my backyard.
Cartels will not be happy about competition.
Naa, they in prime location today, they grow hella tobacco in south america. Wonder if the alkaloid is produced in the trichomes or leaf internals? If in the trichs, then we can finally have solventless (freebase id assume)
Maybe big tobacco will leave cannabis. No sense selling weed if you can sell cocaine.
i’m assuming its the trichomes. they said sap from dried leaves contained two enzymes needed to produce cocaine hydrochoride.

ima have to read up on this - dope! - cocaine HCL rosin here we come! LOL!
Why do I feel some Parkinsons coming on?
There’s a ton of cool research on tobacco trichomes being used to grow antibiotics/vaccines/etc, that may be cannabinoid hemp’s long-term future
Also around a year ago some Canadians made a startup that will try to grow+export Columbian coca, their argument is that there’s some tribal loophole that makes coca+cocaine legal. I thought it was a joke but real money got put into it.
Tobacco was one of the first plants that was routinely genetically modified. Mainly because big tobacco would throw money at pretty much any research at one point.
40years ago it was already a lab work horse for this sort of thing.

Should do for the Adderall shortage.
