CO₂ Extraction, Wiped Film Distillation & THCa Isolation (New York State)

Hey everyone,

We’re currently operating in New York and looking to bring on an experienced consultant to help stabilize and optimize our CO₂ extraction, wiped film distillation, and THCa isolation operations.

We need someone who can identify and fix bottlenecks, tighten SOPs, improve batch consistency, and increase throughput and purity across our processes. Ideally, this person will also train our technicians to ensure the team is fully dialed in on operations, maintenance, and QA/QC procedures.

Key Objectives:

  • Troubleshoot and optimize extraction and distillation to reduce potency suppression

  • Standardize SOPs for repeatable, high-purity results

  • Improve upstream prep and feedstock handling to maximize distillation efficiency

  • Mentor technicians on day-to-day operations, equipment maintenance, and QA/QC

Equipment Overview

  • 150L / 40 MPa Supercritical CO₂ Extraction System
Dual extraction vessels with triple-stage separation for high-efficiency cannabinoid and terpene recovery.

  • 500L Cryogenic Winterization System
Equipped with a centrifugal filtration module operating at -30°C, paired with a falling film evaporator for continuous solvent recovery and improved throughput.

  • Jacketed Decarboxylation Reactor
Integrated with a high-capacity vacuum pump and stainless steel condenser column for efficient vapor condensation and water collection.

  • Two-Stage Stainless Steel Wiped Film Molecular Distillation Unit
Features PTFE wipers and precision-controlled thermal systems utilizing heat transfer oil and a 40/60 ethylene glycol–water mixture for optimized separation performance.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record with CO₂ extraction and wiped film distillation systems at commercial scale

  • Extensive experience with THCa isolation/crystallization

  • Strong process optimization and troubleshooting skills

  • Hands-on ability to train staff and implement reproducible SOPs

  • Professional, verifiable background in licensed cannabis processing or related extraction chemistry

  • Availability for on-site consulting in New York (remote support optional)

Engagement Details:

  • Paid consultancy — only experienced professionals with demonstrated results in a commercial environment will be considered

If this aligns with your expertise, please DM me with credentials, relevant experience, and availability.

Thanks

I’m surprised CO2 is still around

Also if you are doing thca isolation you can probably get rid of making distillate and just decarb your isolate save yourself some extra steps and spend less

What brand of CO2 extractor do you have? What does your current process look like? (Extraction→winterization→solvent recovery→decarb→distillation) some of these steps were not mentioned, do you have all the equipment? Do you currently produce both distillate and isolate? How are you making the isolate? Not with CO2 I am assuming.

A full list of your equipment would be very helpful, as you may be close to your goal, or quite far, with more large purchases required.

If you’re winterizing, we can help with solvent recovery. Good luck with everything!

I guess some better questions would be if you can give us some input on how you all are making products. You talk about CO2 and thca isolation typically people don’t make diamonds with CO2 so I’m presuming you get your thca another way and make your diamonds that way. Why do you all feel the need to use c02 when you can get hydrocarbons and ethanol with membranes. I’m pretty sure c02 is equipment is not much cheaper than those two alternatives. If you are using another solvent for thca why not ditch c02 and build lab around that

Probably because they have already bought most of the equipment and it would be a huge investment to try to pivot to another type of extraction.

Asking for said consult BEFORE sinking all that money into CO2 would be your best bet…

Barring that, I suggest you use the gear you purchased for winterization to extract with ethanol. Especially if it came with a decent sized centrifuge.

To get off the ground, you could even use a IBC tote based version of Bucket Tek (Cold Ethanol Extraction on a Budget) which I’ve seen used at scale.

Sunk cost fallacy. Only way to dig out of that mistake is to recognize it as such and move on.
