Hey guys. To start I already feel incredibly more knowledgeable since spending a ton of time reading this forum. Can’t wait until I’m more of an expert and can help others as well. I am very very appreciative
I have been sourcing closed loop equipment and doing research and fully preparing myself for everything needed to make BHO, run a CRC, and be able to do it all as well as possible. But I have a few questions.
-
Is there a difference between top fill closed loop system where the entire system is one piece looking like a large metal stick. Or the systems that each part of the system are separate and on a rack.
-
I am interested in CRC tek. But would prefer the material to not be clear. Is there a way to remediate to a “piss gold” color that is transparent. After reading 2000+ comments on the CRC thread i saw a prominent seeming member saying he preferred to make yellow slabs over clear, but I did not see a method.
-
Lastly, my current research and plans have led me to believe a 5lb closed loop as well as 2 1.9cu ft vac ovens would be the threshold needed to process 50-70lbs of material a week and have roughly 5 pounds of finished shatter. Is this accurate.

To get to a piss color
Or use less powder or open your valve more to have the solvent pass treu the powders faster
Or use old dank material thats inpossible to get to a clear
Any color shatter should be tranclucent
If the filter used is is 10 microns or less
Often with coffee filters there is a opaque color wich happens deu to small particals in your slab
If piss color is your aim i would recomend working with B80 and DE or. Celite

With the 5 pound unit you can easily reach that amount if your solvent recovery is fast enough
5 runs a day is achieveble with a trs21
On that volume having a sousvide heating your recovery bath
Having two solvent tanks will help a lot

I appreciate your quick replies. I’ll make sure to give B80 and cellulite a go and let you know how that goes! I’ve been researching best recovery methods and I think I will go with something similar to what you brought up.

For question 1, I believe your talking about different sized systems. When you are saying a stick, I’m assuming you’re referring to a single column, and a rack mounted system has columns as well, just bigger and more than a single column can be a part of the system.
And you can absolutely get a pee pee color, just as @Roguelab suggested, try less powders or residence time.
I think for a 5# rig, you’ll need something that is rack mounted or it will be a pain, that’s a pretty big setup if I’m not mistaken.

This is the system design I am planning on using.

If i would have to setup a stick model at five pounds i would use a 24"x6" blasting tube on a 2" tri clamp valve
And have some support added to this

@Roguelab this is another 5lb system I was looking at. I just posted pictures of the one I have been thinking of as well.
I am not bias towards either one. Price isn’t completely different. I’m just unsure as to which style would suit my needs.

Working with powders makes you use a lot more solvent so a large collection pot is needed 12 " x24" i would recomend

Ha, I was just about to ask you what pot size you’d recommend for him!

Your best bet is getting in contact with @Killa12345 and discuss the options
He is having some larger unit s asembeled at a great price if not mistaken he s at mjbiz con right Now so after the weekend i expect him to be clear minded😆

Have been messaging back and forth with him a little bit. He mentioned drop shipping a 5lb system since he didn’t have any available as of now. But we will see after the convention!

Would a dual column system have issue with flow? Say one column is packed looser than the other, would all the solvent flow through that one, path of least resistance and all? Or do you run one column at a time?
I’ve seen these kinds of setups and I wonder about that.
Thats a good start
The beauty of B80 is that it s particals size is not so small as Silica60
And far safer to work with for Silica60 dust can be harmfull
I am dropping 20lbs biomass tubes treu B80 and have good results on a 6" filter disk

The two column systems are a bitch without nitrogen assist
For if running one by one the vapor locks often

Thanks for the info! I kind of figured they were a little harder to run.
Sorry for hijacking things @SlabVader, best of luck on your setup man!

Also many recovery units don t like pressure swings and with the 2 tube system one must watch for that

@Curious_Roberto don’t worry about it! You gave me an entirely new line of thinking with the two column logistics issues. It’s now making me question if I’d still go with that. I didn’t even question the path of butane and recovery relative to pressure differences. Now it makes total sense

If one had to have multiple spools, would you try to run them all inline? I assume so.
@SlabVader, I figured this would be helpful information, that’s why I’m asking more questions, in addition to feeding my curiosity.
I’d also like to thank @Roguelab for always answering my silly questions!
