hey all. so i started out filling tips using 5% terps 95% distillate. i had clog problems. i am now doing 7% terps, 93% distillate, and still getting clogging issues. i am doing my best to keep just distillate and terps, but i really need to get the clog issue solved. i am using cart farm to fill. i fill and cap within 5 minutes. i am using g5 tips from ascent. im looking at changing to snap in, but i don’t really think that will change much. i see a lot of people talking about cutting agents. are3 they using them to stop clogs, or to save money. im not interested in saving money at all. i want the highest quality possible. so should i go to 90% distillate and 10% terps, or do i need to add a cutting agent and if so, what should i try. thank you guys so much. like i said i want to maintain the highest quality possible. not looking to cut costs, just stop clogging.
Either use ccell or switch to a homigenizer and 10-15% alt cannabanoids like cbd to loosen up your blend
do you have the homogenizers in stock yet?
do not cut your oil.
look into new cartridges and pay attention to the size of the intake aperture. You want 2.0mm apertures for viscous distillate. CCell is a good place to start.
he’s waiting on rotor tools. just asked him the same thing like an hour ago lol
You need to cap quicker, fill half a tray instead of full tray or have multiple people capping.
That’s your only real solution, other than upgrading hardware. Adding more terps or a cut isn’t recommended
I barely make a cart but they dont clog with using straight bho and a cbd cut I dont even have disty just decarbed shatter
Clogging or dry hitting?
so, on my battery i have no issue. others claim they have to holds the button down for like 3 seconds, then they can hit
Cap faster. Within 5-10 minutes. Have 1 person dedicated to capping 50 carts at a time with drill socket.
5% is good ratio terps, I use 6% and I have barely any clogging. Just cap faster man.
You are thoroughly mixing the mixture too yes?
Well, currently, I’m using a heated stirer. I put the distillate on the hot plate set at 93 degrees Celsius. I then put a 1-inch stir bar and added the terps. Leave it the hotplate stirring for 5 minutes. I’ll buy a homogenized from qma as soon as available, and maybe that will solve it.
Almost 200F? I do probably 150-160F when I heat the dist and turn to 132F when I mix terps and put on the magnetic stir plate. I set it back in the pot of warm water to ensure even heating as well so it doesn’t get unevenly thick and clog my syringe.
I heat distillate in water, 160F, when I add terpenes I set on hot plate, 132F, then turn on stirrer. Let stir. Set back in pot of water, 160F still not for long though, so it doesn’t burn, but enough to keep it from cooling and thickening.
Then I fill syringe and cart up, capping within 5 minutes. I do not heat my carts. In my opinion do not add cut into your carts.
You should get bigger intake and cap faster…
That might be what their hotplate / stirplate is set to. Doubt the distillate is that hot in this case. I guess just move fast and make no mistakes. Try and get it off the plate ASAP after carting to avoid the dreadful degrade.
He needs a new hotplate if so
Hit on lower temps
The issue is that he already purchased 30k g5s from Ascent, so I have to make those work. Where is the best place to buy ccell in bulk
ooo, I see.
Did you try capping them quicker like someone else suggested?
you don’t wanna cut the oil unless it’s with something else that is cannabis derived… maybe HTE? pure terpenes will get overwhelming/harsh IMO before they start to noticeably lower your oils viscosity
Oh and best place to find CCells is really any of their distributors. I would probably use Jupiter just because I know them, but you can probably find them cheaper elsewhere.
You can buy from www.premiumcarts.com, they have super nice price with amazing service.
After you cap em, are you storing them upside down at all? i like to leave them overnight upside down.
Try microwaving your distillate for 2-3 minutes depending on volume, instead of using a stir plate. I know it sounds crazy but it works and doesn’t really degrade anything like you think it would. @qma showed me this and it has saved me hours. And yeah a homogenizer will definitely prevent hot spots from happening.
