Have I have been filling carts for about a year now and have been getting great reviews aside from one complaint; clogging + spitting oil through the mouthpiece after smoking, about half way through the cartridge. Recently the complaints have become more and more common. I believe this issue is due to the thickness of the oil I am filling the carts with (I am already using 2.0mm intake). The mix I is 95% high viscosity distillate and 5% hemp derived terpenes. Any advice on how I can fix this issue? I was thinking about trying to add 3-5% CBT to lower the viscosity, but I haven’t been unable to source.
@Bret_HoneyGold has CBT (or did recently)
im kind of in the same boat, but probably a different water, as I like to use quartz coils or glass stemmed carts. I havent found a 100% perfect clogless solution, but I have mitigated some of my spitting/climbing up stem problems.
first I gave up on using 5%, especially with cdts, too thick of a mixture for my hardware even at 2mm inlets, I found that 8-10% worked the best.
could also be your hardware specifically despite having a good terp ratio and 2mm inlet holes. the gcells to me have the best taste of any cell ive tried but the 1 ml version seems to have issues no matter what viscocity I mix so I had to switch to a regular ceramic style atomizer for 1mls and even then theres still the usual minimal clogging, but not the more exaggerated spitting through the mouthpiece. If using bho or anything with crystals I would also try and sure its as decarbed as could be to help with flowing. usually my distillate carts do better with wicking but again that could be hardware dependent as there are “wickless carts”
my next step is to look for a pod system as I think those will be my answer to having flavor and efficiency. shit, the gcell halves are so close but they can only fit half and keep efficiency. I remember seeing some quartz coiled pod systems but I think those are gone.
I would recommend upping your terp percentage and filling different hardware to see how it acts, what exactly are you using by the way?
2-3 % CBC, or CBT like @tokesandtinkery said should fix the problem.
Can highly recommend @Bret_HoneyGold, too
Using Ascents C103, have tried different hardware and get the same issue. Was thinking about upping the terpene percentage to 7%, but the reviews on taste have been so much better since I have dropped to 5%, so I am not sure. Was thinking of switching to an HTE mix as I am working on disposables that I am going to fill with either 60%HTE-40%Distillate or 70%HTE-30%Distillate, maybe throw 1% HDT in for a flavor boost. Was gonna try 34%HTE-65%Distillate-1%HDT on the Ascent C103. Thinking it might be a better option than the CDT depending on the costs.
Are those roughly 1$~ each? Looking for good .5s that won’t clog myself. Thanks ahead
C103 have worked very well up until recently due to increased viscosity, I would highly recommend. With custom logo printed onto the glass, they come out to $4500 on 5000 not including shipping. With air freight, I have been paying 780, $5280 in total. Have never had a problem with their shipping either If you want their whatsapp shoot me a DM
I do deal with them direct as well, not in the quantity you are, just 1,000 packs.
You said up until recently due to higher viscosity. How do you think they would handle D8 Carts and some personal 95/5 D9 ?
Thanks for the response.
And honestly OP, you’d be better off switching to .5mL if you haven’t already
Since you are using a .5mL cartridge, I would like to believe it would function perfectly. Any complaint about clogging and spitting only occurs after the cartridge has been smoked half way through.
Switching to .5mL is a good suggestion but atm my clients have little interest in .5mL cartridges/devices unless they are live resin or rosin.
Come to think of it, I have sampled one of their .5mL devices, but filled with pure HTE just to sample the taste of it. It functioned phenomenally.
The comment about switching was to the first poster, sorry for miscommunication there.
But .5s solve a lot of problems. Thank you for the help and insight brother, much appreciated
Also weirdly enough side edit my customers also have very little want with .5s too. I’m just trying to run thick material and don’t want to thin anything down. They’ll get it in the long run!
Thanks @tokesandtinkery and @Labwork <3 , we have CBC and CBT in stock at all time!
