I put 3g on opposite sides and spun it at 4000rpm for 35 minutes. Checked and their was a clear separation with fluffy white crystals on top and orange wet sugar at the bottom. Separated them and intend to try carts but had a long day at work so decided to dab some. The terp portion was terpy but stronger than terp sauce i’ve had in the past so probably needs more spinning but thought I’d do that tomorrow. Added the THCA crystal it’s like straight butane? The resin is nothing like that when dabbed before centrifuging so where did I mess up?
What container did you use to spin it? Did your dab taste like plastic?
I’ve got glass tubes on the way, spun them in the plastic tubes the fuge came with. But it didn’t taste of plastic, it was like all the butane spun into the thca diamonds. But it’s weird because the live resin before spinning you don’t taste any tane at all and it’s a top notch resin overall

I agree on the container being an issue. Was the product fully purged prior to centrifuge? Do you have photos?
Was your product Warm/Hot when you opened up the centrifuge?

No I didn’t purge it before centrifuging, haven’t seen that step in the video/guides i’ve been following. How would I go about doing so without a vacuum oven?
The product was warm, but temperature was 94F so not hot. I’ve dabbed the terp portion of the split and it’s fire

The first step is to get a vacuum oven. They have some cheap DIY options you can look into(silicone degassing chamber + hot water bath.) Make sure you have a very good cold-trap(Dry Ice + IPA Alcohol/Acetone) before your vacuum pump.
Unpurged solvent + regular centrifuge = bad time

Crystals can trap solvent in them too, although at relatively low levels.
You may be tasting butane because you are inhaling butane- so get rid of that first.

Thanks will have to get on that when I get paid end of the month. In the meanwhile would decarbing the diamonds remove the remaining solvent?
It can, especially with small quantities like your working with. I still would use vacuum purging. I’d say most people would not notice if product had 200ppm butane. Most would notice 5000ppm. Some people purge under deep vacuum for 2-3 days and still test over 5000ppm until they learn the tricks of the trade.
