CBG and Glaucoma

Hey Guys,
My girlfriends Uncle has glaucoma and has lost vision in one eye because of it. He is seeking to keep his intra-ocular pressure low to keep vision is his other eye which is at serious risk. He was a user and advocate of mainly CBD products and kept a regimen of low THC high CBD for several years. After extensive research on his end, consulting with physicians and his own experience. He found that THC provided immediate relief for his IO pressure, but after an hour he experienced a rebound which made the pressure worse. Using CBD products he successfully lowered his IO pressure for a while; but over the long term, his pressure has started to rise higher than it was before he started using it.

He did a deep dive into cannabinoid research and found that CBG has potential to reduce intra ocular pressure over the long term. I mixed him up some 17mg/ml pure CBG tincture and he has started to take 1/2ml 2 times a day which has not been providing relief. Additionally, since he stopped taking the CBD his anxiety is through the roof and he has increased Xanax intake to cope. Of course I told him to bump up the dose to 1ml 2 times a day and titrate upwards to find a suitable dose.

But I want to know if anyone on here has experience using CBG to manage glaucoma. He would love more information on personal anecdotes, doses he should consider or even relevant studies he can explore. This may not be the answer, but no one wants to see him go blind. Glaucoma is thought of as almost a “classic” medical marijuana condition, but he has been unsuccessful in finding the relief he needs. Based on his research and experience he is not open to further CBD/THC use, but other cannabinoids could hold promise. Finding an ophthalmologist educated in this field has proven to be unfathomably difficult for him, so my hope is that the community can help us in some way.

I would love to help, shoot me a DM with your number and I’ll get you connected with my cancer specialist

You may want to try the combination CBD with CBG 1 to 1 and see if he gets benefit. Will help with his anxiety as a secondary benefit.

He is not comfortable continuing to use any CBD as he has seen it contribute to higher intra ocular pressure over time personally. Research supports this in mice trials.

Any article that says smoking marijuana causes cancer raises a red flag to me. Go to places in the Caribbean like Belize and Jamaica, and you’ll find plenty of senior citizen lifelong tokers. If it caused cancer, these people would be the ones getting it, and that is not the case.

It’s hard to know what to believe, or who has their finger on the scales to influence any particular research. I would urge not giving up on cannabinoids yet. Try smoking some cbd kief for the anxiety. Good luck with everything.

Search CBG eye drops… there is a company that has put a lot of research into it for that. I’m not sure if the CBG needs to be applied locally for the desired results. I personally would not make eye drops from scratch but the ingredients are pretty straight forward. They actually use PEG but if I recall correctly it’s less than 1%. I would take it to a professional. May be able to just use an oily “liquid tears” kind of formula and infuse it with CBG… I’d be very afraid of crystallization though

This was my exact thought, but I am a bit apprehensive about the safety of manufacturing the eye drops. Seems like something you would want a sterile room for, but maybe I’m off base. I have the ability to make it, just worried about any sort of contaminants getting into the mixture. Even something like dust or fiber. Definitely looking to see if anyone has firsthand experience of any kind.

There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that this is true. Lots of toxic and carcinogenic things are produced when all the carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in the cell walls are heated to combustion. This isnt just true of hemp and cannabis, it’s true for most natural things.

It’s also irrelevant to the point I was seeking to illustrate, the questions we are seeking answers for and there is also several additional studies conducted on the subject.
It is looking like CBG eye drops may hold the key.

google dmso

google dmso safety*

you most certainly better do your own research using anything new . you gotta go deeper than a dime. this is certainly true w/dmso.

I did not realize anyone actually still believed that propaganda line that weed causes cancer. It makes you grow man boobs and go crazy with the reefer madness, too, if you believe the government.

Plenty of data to support that bit of “propaganda”.
