CBD to THC: Means to get less than 0.3% d9?

Hi all! I am new to the forum. I am a chemist/materials scientist by training, so I know a few things, but I am relatively new to the industry -lots to learn and appreciate!

Anyway, I am working on CBD to d8 conversions. I currently am making 95-97% d8, but I am in the 2-3% range for d9. I am using a couple different approaches (solvents/times), but they both use pTSA.

Can anyone suggest a means to get less than 0.3% d9? Or is this going to require chromatography (really a no go for us at our given scale), or some other form of post processing?

Simo

You might want to consider longer reaction times and monitoring your reaction with a GC. Take samples every 10-15 minutes and don’t stop refluxing until after all of the CBD and D9 have been consumed.

@roguelab is the master, look through his posts regarding longer lower temp reactions for better completion.

The options are:
Do a better job not making d9
Distillation
Chromatography (not great if you look at the issues people have with analytical LC already)
Some combination of the three
