CAPNA Ethos 6 general discussion

relax, were just talkin here…

can yous send some pictures of them? we may interested in these for a new project we got and would modify for them for larger camapcity

They’re brand spanking new? You can just pull the pictures from a simple google search. I can post you stock photos of them if you want, from the peer review sheet we have, if you like?

Someone from CAPNA told me that if you put room temperature ethanol into the system it takes ~4-6 hours to bring it down to the required temperature. Which means that yes you still need cold/cryo ethanol storage if you want to run it at anything approaching full capacity.

What temperature are they shooting for?

To comment on all the cooling comments here, you don’t have to get super cold if you have a large volume of coolant and surface area to match. Tap water is an amazing thing. And if you live in the desert, a water cooling tower is a suitable substitute for tap water, and often significantly more cost effective than a chiller

One does not have to use the lenticular filter with the CUP15. This is an add on that we offer, however there are other great filtration options on the market.

Lol suggest something else then? Filter cartridges? That still need to be replaced periodically?

Not to hate. But your device was initially designed for room temperature ethanol extraction, as was advertised to me multiple times since mid 2017. I was one of your first potential clients…

Adding a jacket covering 75% of your extractor/reactor vessel doesn’t do much to make it a ‘cryogenic’ solution…

I’m an trained/educated engineer and I critique every detail. There is so much heat ingress on your devices, it’s still borderline room temp ethanol extraction; even if you advertise the ability to cool it via the jacketing…

Not tryna hate. But dont try to upsell a device that will always require post-processing (and freezing of borderline dangerous repurposed kegs) to remove co-extracted lipids.

Your leg design will never stand up to C-GMP procedures & compliance requirements that will be rolled out near 2020 via the CDPH in California…

FYI,
This was a post for me trying to rid of a competitors device. A competitor, who in my opinion, has a better design from the ground up.
A unit that is easily transitionable to C-GMP compliance…

I FOUND IT! Thanks google!

I saw somewhere that Capna sells a centrifuge to go along with the Ethos. Has anyone seen or used it?

They had no information about it or their FFE that they were willing to share as of a week ago when I last spoke with them.

When I talked to them they just recommended a hobart

I currently own a Hobart and it’s essentially a paper weight now. It is not even remotely useful for our needs. It has a very bad balance issue, the wheels don’t stay locked, and the rpm’s are too low to pull anything above 90-92% of the total solvent.

Rainier apparently does a c1d1(ish) Hobart mod.
Ballpark was <$10k two hrs ago.
It’s not on their website. I asked on a hunch.

When I asked how fast? “How fast do you want?”.

What is the automation like on these machines? What is the advantage over tanks and chillers or LN2?

Most of the labor is unloading the plant material and spinning it off, so is automating the ethanol transfer really that helpful?

Any idea if they stabilize it? That’s my main argument with it.

I asked. the answer wasn’t related to the question. gave up after the second attempt.

If it’s the right interim solution for the lab I’m working with, that’s great, if not, there are plenty of other ways of skinning this cat.

anybody know at what temp does CAPNA operate?

starts out at -80C.
once you try and run at any speed you’ll have problems with it warming up.

almost more capna for sale around here than CBD
