Can we get a down vote button?/Is it time for a re-design and very light moderation?

Been on Lemmy lately because I got banned from Reddit. I noticed we don’t have a down vote button or a cross post button that’s readily available. I’m not saying to change the format of this site to match Lemmy or Reddit. I’ve been thinking maybe we can set it so that if you scroll over the down you see who down voted you and you scroll over the heart or honestly we could change it to a bee or a glob of bho or some shit idk which would be the up vote.

But maybe a reformat wouldn’t hurt. It’s getting dull in here we should add a few new things toss an open source donation box somewhere and promote more open source projects.

We gotta get back into what it was all about. I myself have devolved to meme guy too but I want to change that. I want to be science guy again and I want to see this place be, as one person put it, “A nexus of knowledge,” again.

I think a down vote button could maybe make it so there’s less fighting and maybe we do need moderation. Maybe we can add a front end that gives warnings or automatically moves fighting posts to the ec. idk. Not censorship (because we all have our own fucking way of talking fucking god fucking damnit. lol jk but that could be someone’s talking style). Moderation, would be nice.

I think it wouldn’t be bad to have maybe a less dark layout and maybe have a color and format option.

But no down vote in the ec. we keep that the pit of shit. :smiling_face_with_horns:

actually i thought of another thing. Maybe we have noob questions be auto sorted as well into their own category with an auto ai bot stating the question has already been answered and that gives the noob the link and then states the instructions on how to search the forum maybe even create in interactive demo. Where your first post that’s already been answered gets the, “Please search before you ask,” Demo where it will circle the search bar and it will tell you how to read the highlighted threads and how to navigate the cross posted links as well as how to anti-troll and how to keep the forum somewhat on track.

Maybe we can have the off topic stuff be sorted to their own threads and AND to cut down on site space 14 days to claim a forked thread to keep it going or it disappears.

and I was thinking: If you don’t give a fuck about what the other person said after two weeks none the less the amount of hours it would take for the thread to lock, you must not give that much of an actual fuck about what that person said in two weeks, Why clog the site with bullshit, if the two people or group of people arguing are no longer doing so, for so long that the activity vanishes.

That is until the next round of bullshit happens then those bullshit threads are quoted to promote more fights and to keep things going longer than they really need to go but still!!! you get what I’m saying. Like if so much time passes that we even forget!!! I think we can make a two week rule.
