“For now, the only way legal, state-licensed businesses say they are able to stay profitable is to keep one foot in the illegal, unlicensed market – often called the “legacy” or “traditional” market.”
MI is going the exact same direction with the MCMA. This is what happens when you eliminate the free market and allow it to only exist under central planning.
Happening in Colorado also… everyone has a silent partner named Sam, the problem is Sam doesn’t help with the bills, the salaries, or anything else… he is however, there with his hand out for 15% state and 5% county of the gross. Bad harvest… he don’t give a shit… act of God wind storms… he don’t give a shit… glut on the local market… he don’t give a shit. Sam is ready to reap the rewards during good times and bad times… he don’t give a shit.
because laws/regs, taxes, and backdooring mixed with already shady people who have shady legal/traditional market backgrounds in all forms of markets.
the big one is the people though, their intentions aren’t always for the good or for the better. They want power and money vs helping people. “Rules for thee but not for me” applies strongly here.
When they repealed alcohol prohibition the feds made it so that all liquor manufacturers were exempt from taxes for 10 years, knowing they would have to compete directly with the massive black market government prohibition created. This never happened with ganja, we were all just supposed to compete with the black along with the extra regulations…
like @MTOG said, “Sam is ready to reap the rewards during good times and bad times… he don’t give a shit.”
It really doesn’t matter though, because as all of you know, every one of us in the cannabis industry are already millionaires.
Sort of a sad situation. In Colorado, legalization has been a boon for everyone except the producers/growers. Construction is booming, Retail Sales of Equipment is booming, Local Governments have had new life breathed into otherwise empty coffers. Who can blame the BM groups … just a pain in the ass to try and be legit
At this rate im pretty sure it’s almost impossible for law enforcement to be able to control illicit grows in cali. Theres just too many people doing it and too many people making money for that to stop. As long as there are absurd taxes the black market will ALWAYS be able to produce for a lower cost. But Cali is definitely unique in the sense that it has a lot of history in the cannabis industry especially during legalization. There are whole towns in humboldt that were built from the funds from the illicit cannabis trade. It’s literally apart of their culture in some cases
Factory weed sucks. Quality isn’t in the same business model as quantity. And no one wants to pay sales tax which will be used to fund the local pigs.
Supporting the legal market supports the governments tyranny
I never thought about the market that the government created has put people of color in prison for decades. Woah.
I was overall impressed by the tone of this thread:

Doesn’t the same apply to the BM? Most of the flower on the BM is boof mass produced mids.
Not everyone can be plugged up either, or even wants to be. Most people that use cannabis would probably prefer to not be a criminal to use it.
