Hey Team.
I purchased a 150U C1D1 last year and we have got it fully running. As we get closer to Summer we’re researching ways to offset the swamp ass heat Oklahoma creates.
My HVAC guy researched quite a bit and came back with an egregiously high quote for a 7.5t unit (this may just be what these cost) to help us keep our booth proper temperature) but also maintain compliance and not compromise the purpose of the C1D1 Booth.

Anyone with any leads on a proper unit, that’s cost effective, to supply these booths would be extremely helpful. Despite paying HAL an egregiously high amount of money for the booth and then more money to come out and assemble it, they will not help me with this unless I pay their out of business consulting fee, again. Not really shocked they went out of business.
Thank you in advance. Keep your extractors and equipment cool!

We had similar questions last year, talking with our hvac guy I believe we were looking at 7.5 ton minimum without the heat from chillers. Where does the c1d1 air come from and what flow rate during normal operation?
I need to add a couple more fan coil units to get 10 more tons cooling for summer. Overall c1d1 can be pretty warm in summer months, especially on high speed purge. Jacketed/insulated vessels and breaks for operators.

I think the brand of ours is called safe air. Gets hella cold. Is c1d1 rated and is not quiet.

This is the company that makes the one we use.
Seems like a radiator with a C1D1 rated fan blowing over it could be fed with a regular chiller outside the booth, and would be a fraction of the cost?
Maybe even an off the shelf radiant ceiling cooling setup?

Is it not possible to increase the cold air supply/cooling tonnage to the feed air that comes into the booth? I believe a lab I toured in Vegas that was set up this way.

Yeah a heat exchanger with a c1d1 rated fan and all the other parts of the cooling system outside the the c1d1 is a great idea. And a fraction of the cost of a rated ac system.

Our incoming vent has louvers that are closed when smoke is detected and or fire sprinklers are activated. I dont know if engineers and fire dpt. would have been ok with that. Maybe though since it does not add more oxygen.
That is what we do. The spray booth intake air is pre-conditioned facility air. You want more c1d1 AC add facility common area AC. Therefore no need for expensive haz loc AC equipment and electrical construction.

That was exactly my thinking. I own and run a hash lab so I rarely want my lab colder - freezing as is, but I’ve seen a few c1d1 and d2 labs solve the issue the way you mentioned as well.

We paid a lab designer to do our facility. When i saw that ac system installed and saw what it cost i fucking almost punched someone. c1d1 is just a huge heat exchanger from a cryodax 60 in oakland ca weather and it will keep that room chilly af already.
