Bhogarts ice tech. Who makes something better for less?

That’s a beast of a unit!!!

How beautiful is that? I’m baffled really. I’ll be doing this over running a cheap pos glycol chiller.

So that’s 5hp or 1 ton of cooling. Is it running a special type of gas? Why not just use a 5 ton outdoor ac unit?

Something like this

It uses 404A to get colder. They are usually for walk in freezers. I’m not a HVAC tech but there is definitely differences in the internals, the controller and fans. Worked great for on demand cooling

I’ve been searching 404b since you wrote it, scratching my head. lol

Nice edit!

FWIW, most compressors that run POE oil can run r404a. 410a compressors are rated for higher pressure but no reason they can’t run 404 or a lower temp refrigerant. As a matter of fact, most of those compressors will run fine for ULT with r22 as long as you use a discharge oil separator and return valve. Only issue is if you have a variable compression scroll or LI/VI I think the thermostatic charge might not be perfect but it’ll probably still run better than most packaged chillers for cannabis

Yeh my bad thought I adjusted it quick enough

Yeah. Def run a P trap.

I prefer the helical separators. Especially for VLT, and especially especially with something like a BPHE for an evaporator you really want to keep oil out of the evaporator. The miscibility of POE in refrigerant drops pretty substantially with temperature so the best bet is to separate it in the gas phase. Never had an issue with a good helical separator
