Looking at this Vevor sealing machine that works on a belt. As things seal it moves them down the line and drops them into a container. Seems like it would work great but I wanna hear peoples experience with this in terms of cannabis products. For the type of products we make sometimes automation isn’t the answer. I’m trying to see if this would be much more useful then a traditional clamp style sealing machine.
To clarify, I plan to be using this to package both flower and edibles of various sizes. In my experience clamp sealers are very slow and take up allot of time. But I am sure there are better options then the trusty food saver.
They are called band sealers and they work well for what you are trying to do. I gave 750$ for a “good” one because I didn’t want it to break after a year. Still going strong 2 years later. You can definitely gamble on a cheap one though!
I will say that it will take about 5min for it to get up to temp. So if you are only trying to seal onesies and twosies then the clamp sealer will be better.
Thank you for the reply. I am worried about the sizing of different bags. Lets say a small edible might hang off at an angle if I get it too big. Is the height on yours adjustable?
So looking closer, that is definitely the same unit as I have. Looks like I way over paid, oh well. It’s a good unit! So you feed it right to left, and those bands grab ahold of the lips of the bag really well. The name of the game with consistent seals is lining the product up at a perfect 90* angle and the correct depth as you don’t want to seal below the tear notches on the bag. Takes a bit to get the hang of but we increased our sealing throughput 10fold switching to that unit. It is quite adjustable so you should be good. We can seal small bags 3x4 up to 4x6 no problem. I’m sure you could do larger bags just haven’t tried it. We run at 160C and moderate speed. If you wanna crank it faster, you will have to play with temp so you don’t get a light seal or a melted seal.
Yeah that one you have will work fine - I’ve done 1/8th and ounce bags with it. rounded and die cut too. the key is making sure your sealing in a straight line (cause that’s what the one you picked out does)
Otherwise - it works solid. Its stupid cheap and when one breaks I buy a new one. -shrug-
You can put a plastic form around the conveyor to allow ease of alignment - or you can get one that has this built in (they exist, I don’t if from Vevor).
I just got one of these things and I’m having enormous difficulty feeding the stupid plastic film through the gears. The plastic keeps sticking to the heated metal things instead of sticking together. I’m probably just stupid and doing it wrong.
What kind of plastic are you using? on most “film” there is a heated side and an unheated side. It could be something as simple as wrong temp, wrong dwell time, or loading the film into the system wrong.
Sounds like its probably loaded wrong to me - unless you are leaving it in there for a LONG time.
Gotta make sure that the film you are using is designed for this style of machine - and make sure that the setpoints you put on the machine match the film.
Feel free to DM me if you want to talk about it more. That style of machine is old school - so it won’t do things for you, but you can tell it what you want it to do, as long as you know the parameters.
Thanks for the tips! I think I figured out what I was doing wrong (I was advised to cut the film in a V shape so it doesn’t get wrinkled while feeding through the powder funnel), but now the metal things are covered in burnt plastic so I need to clean them before I can try it again
It s a finicky unit and film choices are slim
Only transparent or a container full of a color of choice
But once you get the hang of them they work and pretty decent compared to the next unit$$$
Keep it clean and start slow and with some volume 5 grams at least less and the weighing unit needs calibration every so often
I have 2 of those band sealers, like previously stated you have to get the hang of it. Mine have been put through the ringer and work the same as the day I bought em
i’d be careful with this company, have had hit or miss experiences.
One product i spent $800 on broke after the first use and they will lowball you on the warranty relentlessly and try to offer you like 20 dollars as a solution until they finally tell you after a dozen emails with back and fourth negotiations it only covers 50% of what you spent.
I’ve been using it to make THC infused syrups on a large-ish scale. I hook up a tube to the valve on the bottom which I lead directly into the filling machine intake so I can mix and then get straight to bottling. It’s pretty slick and it didn’t break the bank. The motor that it ships with is kinda limp dicked but it would be really easy to take it off and replace it with a high shear emulsifier. But that’s not necessary for my application.
That would be a massive issue. Where they claiming you made the damage? Very weird to have such a inclusive warranty page yet treat the customers so different. I really like the hot plate I just got from them it would be a shame if they had horrible customer service.
yes, in total it actually took around 40 emails to get a 50% refund they will absolutely fight you tooth and nail… and finally claim that after 6 months they can only offer you half refund. I waited awhile to use it after purchasing. That was their final offer after playing games for a week starting off by offering me literally $20… lots of stalling and dodging direct questions, said that if i tried to return it for more money it would get lost in the mail and refused to give me return instructions. Had me send videos/pictures and they never even downloaded or viewed them. Figured $400 and keeping the item maybe trying to fix it later on was better than another week of emails that made me want to bang my head against my desk. i’m sure if pressed hard enough they would accept a return but they’ll do everything they can not to
edit: after accepting 50% another person at vevor i was talking to offered slightly over 50% “for being a valued customer” going to see if they’ll refund me twice now
feels like i’m playing cash cube with my refund money
