It said paint booth but Iâm assuming it was a c1d1 - Iâm curious to see if they find any electrical defects after the fire is contained or any structural flaws in the booth becauseâŚarenât they supoosed to contain that? Unless of course its user error. Either way its too early to speculate - I just hope these people pull through and make a full recovery
5 bucks says someone brought in a heat gun. Kinda like that C1D1 fire in KY where the guy brought the flaming container of ethanol out of the C1D1 which took out the whole building.
I mean a spray booth and a C1D1 arenât too far off⌠maybe they repurposed a spray booth as a C1D1?
This article covers a little more info. Looks like a relatively âsmallâ explosion, confined to facility itself due to safety measures working as intended.
100%. Could be processor error, could be faulty electronics⌠who knows~
Thank God no one was killed and I too hope the people hurt or affected by this accident make an easy and full recovery.
I think people get a little too comfortable in their booths and push the boundaries. Even though everything is rated and youâre in a âsafeâ environment. Nothing makes hydrocarbons completely safe
Treu
I start noticing more fear the more I extract
All these years have gone well and in the back of my head the statistics are pilling up against the odd s
O well be safe
Not to mention a lot of producers are cutting salaries and by extension- qualifications.
I consulted for a number of MSOs with major static electricity problems- in and around their C1D1 booths. One facility was operating for years, with their employees running a CLS inside, what was effectively, a giant bomb. They were LUCKY no one was hurt or worse. I am 100% sure if they hired qualified individuals who are well versed in production safety and basic physics, they would have identified the risk and installed static discharge equipment⌠like I did. What do you expect if your employees are paid $14/hour and the highest qualification required is a GED?
Hell yes. I wish they were called âexplosion containmentâ booths. I think thatâs far more accurate than âexplosion proofâ booth.
Hazardous locations are hazardous.
Woah. Not much in the article. Not sure how rumors of a newborn baby got into the mix. I am glad their âpaint boothâ functioned as planned and it wasnât worse.
They donât even contain explosions in a number of states. IIRC, Colorado requires fire-proof panels(thicker gauge steel), while many states only require Explosion-Resistant(thin gauge or even plastic). The idea behind the C1D1 is rapid air exchange to maintain atmosphere below LEL(lower explosive limit) and prevent a situation where explosions could happen.
Most of these booths will not stop or contain explosive damage. Some may mitigate damage where thick steel panels or crazy composite aramid weave ballistic cloth they use in LP&G industries.
I knew this, but I guess I mistakenly took it as a given one would want containment as well, thats terrifying dude. But I guess as always, cheap finds a way.
Yes to this.
This.
Pharmacann is known in MD as the last place a qualified technician will be willing to work.
Turns out, this is actually skilled labor, as much as corporate cannabis refuses to acknowledge this.
I hope Pharmacann takes care of them.
As @Roguelab eluded to, the numbers donât favor the more experienced. The extractors playing with scaled-up MSO equipment, as @Ganjineer710 points out, can be paid next to minimum wage. A team of good operators is so valuable. Also, too many times I see: Maintenance wants to bring in a power drill or angle grinder, Management wants to take photos with their phones in the booth, Security can use their phone âitâs okay Iâm securityâ, . . .
If the extractors from PharmaCann are here on F4200, please add to the conversation.
I thought a spray booth only goes so far as to be C1D2?
Iâll say Iâm guilty of having my phone on me at times, itâs such a simple thing to forget, though admittedly near the bottom of the risk ladder.
but yah, if youâre @ pharmacann, Iâd love to hear from you.
Kinda sorta the reason why Iâm not at the moment. The fear drives me to be safe but damnit if thereâs never been a part of me that goes fuck fuck fuck FUCK!!! in my head because I know that risk is high if I fuck up.
and here I am reflecting on all the times I casually took pictures of the recovery process.
