That’s why I get a bunch of cheap ones from China and don’t rely on it for my only fine filtration membrane
I was worried about the pentane evaporating. But I guess just chilling it to -20 or something would prevent that
Just push it through rather than pull it
Celite, is it necessary or not? THANKS
Oxidation isnt what you should be worried about in that situation, oxygen and flammable solvents shouldnt be pressurized in the same vessel. That’s like making a bomb ![]()
I found it for same price as food grade de from qualitystainlessparts.com
My go to for anything i can
I also determined from personal research food grade de and celite can give similar filtration results with celite haVing a dramatically greater flow rate. I’ve still been unable to significantly reduce ruby red color in my extract. I’ve tried t5 dry, and carbon/celite/alumina/T5 in solution. Waiting for the chiller to be back online and make a home genus kilo to be produced before testing.
Wash with water youll remove red
I thought this could happen. Make sure there is a negative pressure gauge on the inlet and outlet of the crc. Invest to pressure relief valve by your tank. Back pressure is tricky bc this depends on your pump. If everything is lined up perfectly you will go neutral. This effect is called the can. Which flow is neteural. It’s in a state of atmospheric pressure. Releasing this to quickly will give you more than a scare. Now the problems stated are nothing compared to a bleve. That’s the game over failure
How? I’ve read about hexane salt water in a sep funnel. Or is there another way?
Yes in a sep funnel. If your doing a really large batch I would use a conical fermenter. You want to ph your water then wash through your suspension. You can do this in whatever solvent you want. Sounds like your using pentane which will work just fine. Certain ph swings in the water will wash away the color your trying to remove. Just make sure you wash with neutral water when your done. Check the waste water you drain off and keep washing until that waste water is of a neutral ph.
I haven’t tried alkane/h2o washing yet. My extract is 62%cbd 2%cbda 2%thc and 68%total cannabinoids. It’s dark and red. Ive been trying to get it to crystallize but have not figured it out yet. I’m thinking I need to spd or otherwise purify to get that isolate forming. I have heptane, acetone and pentane. Ordered hexane but got h2o2 instead, lol. So do you think it would be productive to wash? Do you swing pH high or low first? Will there be cannabinoids in the emulsion layer? How doess temperature affect things? I’m also trying to figure out a dcvc procedure. If you know which solvents work for that I’d very much appreciate the advice. My goal is to create THC compliant (<.3%) products undiluted or minimally diluted.
Weird. Ive had my CRC over 90 PSI and never any issues.
Same…
