I made some shatter per a dispensary request. The test came back at 9.4% terp content. I feel like this is a decent number and im just curious what everyone else is getting on average as far as terp percentage. Strain is orange cookies x mac and i used 100% nbutane thru an injection coil in a dry ice slurry. Also 100g crx per lb
Haha terps in shatter.
9.4% is great. How’s the stability? Only time I’ve seen slabs test that range on terps it sugared up and they had to discount it for not being “shatter” anymore.
I used to see like 3% in shatter. Often times less in the super high THCa shatter (that outsold everything terpy by about ten-fold). Eventually the goal just became forget the terps and get the highest total cannabinoid percentage. If it inches into the low 90’s and has no taste it outsells then 70-80% all day long. Sadly.
I know, i know lol shatter’s very 10yrs ago but oklahomas way behind and dispensaries ask for it alot.
Its fairly stable so far. It will bend instead of break but its not sticky at all. And you can tear it apart with gloves easily. Personally, i feel like it would be better off if it went ahead and turned to sugar. Terpy sugar is my favorite
Nah rec markets still love shatter so is what it is. Well they just like cheapest high THC content so shatter goes over well in most areas. A lot of the new rec dabbers haven’t got the memo that shatter is old news. So I can’t hate on it. Market makes the rules. This at least has a nice terp content on it so I’m all for it.
Trim shatter usually testing around 3-7% for me. I would be proud of a 9.4% run also. I’m surprised it’s even stable but I guess it is winter.
For shatter you are looking at 0-3% terps. Cured sugar is usually in the 2-8% range but anything over 4% terps is good for trim. For me I always try to get as close to 100% when I add total terps with total cannabinoids.
My guess is if you got that retested at high grade it’d come back at 2% anything over 4% terps will nucleate within a few days. Some of these labs in OK are terrible I have seen some crazy differences from lab to lab and even same labs giving different results on testing the same exact sample.
@Griffin.Labs almost certainly has it right here. You’re dealing with folks who don’t yet have a handle on what they’re doing…
9% terps in “shatter” doesn’t make any sense at all.
Edit: unless you’re dissolving it to throw in a cart…
As we test terps in smoking CBD clones we saw anywhere from 0.3-2.0% terps in flowers.
Woulnt it be kind of impossible to reach 10% terps and more than 90% in canabinoids? As one cant make room for the other unless its gone?
So if you have a 2% in flower and 20% cbx and you increase it 4x then in a perfect situation you get 80%cbx and 8%terps? And 12% of other secondary plant metabolites?
Someone can dismantle this logic please but i agree with the lot that 9% is high and inconsistent with the morphology of the extract.
The most i saw was 4.5% in rosin but I live in EU where teks arent this smart so retest in different lab and then, bragging rights are trully granted
Last week I got a duplicate result of ~10% THCa in a second pass distillate… Technically this lab error is probably lower as a “% deviation from actual” lol
If testing improvement doesn’t happen in this industry, it’s going to kill the producers that don’t have the production controls to make their label claims match their goods
