We just moved to a new lab and in the process of moving someone dropped one of my Alcatel 2021i vacuum pumps and this small brass rod got bent, and the black plastic piece no longer fits on it anymore. Any advice on where to buy one or what it’s called? Thanks.
Thats for the ballast, call Xtractor depot they remove that when they rebuild those so tbey might have an easy solution.
Yup
Gas ballast
Thanks guys, I’ll give extractor Depot a call today.
There should be an electrical connection there as well.
Black plug with 2 prongs
Yes there is that’s not the problem the brass rod that it slides onto has been bent and that black plastic piece will no longer slide over it
Do you use the GB? Of not I’d just use a bolt that fits and seal it up.
I’ve never used it to be honest. I just use them for distillation, have 2 cold traps and change oil and disassemble and clean them after every 2 runs. Never had any issues out of them, I’ve got 3 of them and they’re great, but now I’m down to 2 pumps on my 20L and not hitting the vac depth I’m used to, so I wanted to get it back up and running as fast as possible.
Theoretically couldn’t I use the brass piece and just leave off the plastic portion with the electrical component on it?
Yes
I leave all mine unplugged. I run 6 2021i’s at work
If you have the black thing off the ballast is closed, you can remove the screw on the top of your other ones and just take it on and off to control the ballast.
Thanks for the help guys
Looks like a valve stem. The black plastic piece w/wires would be the electro magnetic coil that controls it. It’s a common way of controlling hydraulic circuits in my world.
