Antimicrobial additive for water recirculation

I have a recirculating tankless hot water system with a reservoir and am noticing some microbial build up in the reservoir. What can be used to keep the nastys away without corroding any parts in the system? I’ve seen bleach mentioned a few times but am worried about its effects on all the steel.

Would something like this work well?

Silver was used in PC water-cooling for a long time, just a little coil of wire somewhere

Depends on what kind of volume you’re doing. Circulate thru UV and filters.
